We were discussing gliders on my month board. I was wondering what everyone here was getting or deciding on. If thats a rocker, glider, recliner.
Personally I would LOVE a recliner/glider but at 500 dollars? AH! I can't see registering for that yet alone buying it.
thoughts?
Re: Gliders ? what are you doing?
We bought a Shermag glider with foot rest, and it's been awesome...I think the set was about $300 at Target. I was impressed with the quality for the money. I really liked it and used it a lot, but it's not necessarily a necessity.
There are cheaper options at BRU/Target, or maybe try a consigment shop?
One of the older women at work gave me a Dutailer glider & ottoman that she had. It was up in her loft taking up space and is pretty much in new condition - it is AMAZING. I go into the nursery just to sit down and "glide" to relax. One of the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in.
I wasn't planning on buying one before she offered this - but I had also never tried one out. I highly recommend them now!
Maybe check out craigslist???
We got a recliner/glider from BRU. We had looked at several furniture stores including LazyBoy but didn't like any of them (or their $900 price tag).
I really wanted a recliner- if you just go with glider it's much cheaper and easier to find. We had coupons that end today for 25% any upholstered chair/ottoman from BRU. We were able to get the recliner chair and ottoman for only $436.
And we have also, we have bought the crib, dresser and changer. So it is the only furniture item on there.

I've seen a lot of glider/footrest sets on BRU for $180. I'm totally getting one. On a related note, my mom and sister (live in CO) were in BRU shopping for a shower gift for one of my sister's friends and they stumbled upon the glider section and decided to try them out. Now my mom is thinking about getting one...for herself! Ha!
I am having trouble finding one that is big enough. I am tall with a long torso and I want on that has a tall enough back I can rest my head and for the arm rests to be about 10 inches from the seat for.
My mom has the rocking chair she used for us and I am considering just using that one because I know it fits my body.
I found one on craigslist that is for 150 bucks. They said they orig paid 400 dollars. It reclines in multiple positions. only problem is the wood is completely different than the crib.. I dont know! ah!

i just bought a recliner/glider. it was 699 i think? i forgot the breakdown, we bough a few things. personally i HATE the ones with the exposed wood at the bottom. they look unfinished, tacky and cheap. not to mention once LO starts moving around he could get stuck i the parts (or my dogs for that matter)
Walmart has them for cheaper. i know someone on here just got the enchanted embassy one i think. maybe she will post.
i also love the one i got because we could customize the fabric on it. we went with a very light tan super soft micro suede (very easy to clean!). the neutral color on it is great so we can use it for all the kids. im getting pillows to match the custom bedding to accent it and im crocheting a lacy thick top doily for it in the bedding colors
We bought a custom Dutailier rocker/glider and ottoman in the the same lime green as Olivia's bedding. It is the most amazing chair I have ever sat in. We are going to use it again for this baby, as we will be using the same bedding. I have been searching craigslist for another for Olivia. We still sit in it to read all the time. However, I really have no desire to spend another few hundred dollars.
Honestly, I'm not sure how people do it without a chair...
why not get it reupholstered?
I think that's what she meant -- like she is going to replace the fabric, not the chair.
My mother bought one for my grandmother several years ago after my grandmother fell and mom was worried she was going to hurt herself using her 60 year old rocking chair. Grandma never liked it and never used it, and told my mother to get rid of it. I was pregnant around that time and mom gave it to me. It's been sitting in the office since.
It's an expensive one, but with a hideous dark floral pattern. My MIL offered to help me reupholster it, and we're going to use it. It's comfortable, and looks nice, I just hate the material.
We just got our Glider off Craigslist. It rocks, glides and locks. Only cost $125 and was never used. Oh and with gliding ottoman as well. I did not see too many on the local CL over $150. This one is similar to a $600.00 model I tested.
I think that CL is best, I had registered for one, but it did not rock, and would have still been $400. So we were able to take that off and no one has to blow $400.00 on that. I was so weirded out by the idea of someone spending $400 on a piece of furniture for us anyway.
GL!
we have a modern Eames rocker.
we 'found' the top/shell (with just straight legs) and bought rocker legs online. i think new Eames rockers retail for $400 so we were pumped.

My sister is giving me her glider/footrest.. she doesn't use it anymore, and My parents are more then happy to have more furniture taken out of their house!!
And I could careless if the wood matches.. as long as I'm comfy and so is the baby who cares!
