3rd Trimester

Confession: I used to think you were all full of crap.

Honestly, I used to think pregnant women were just a bunch of whiners.

Now, having had severe morning sickness for 6 months, premature labor problems, the complete loss of bladder control, and the knowledge that the discomforts will all get worse in the next couple months....

Ummm, yeah.  Foot in mouth.  Big time.

Anyone else completely underestimate the "joys" of pregnancy?

  • ::raises hand::  I'm one of them now!  Oh the shame.  Embarrassed

  • Yes, me!  I remember always thinking I'm much stronger than these women, sure it's bad, but I won't complain.  Well within the past few days it all caught up to me, and now I'm wishing I never thought that at all!!!! LOL
  • :: Raises hand and hangs head in shame:: So much for the glowing mother earth goddess expectation I suck at being pregnant.

  • absolutely! I never thought in a mllion years that I would lose 21lbs from m/s, be in the hospital from a bleed, almost lose our son, cry at the drop of the hat (I used to think "oh whatever that really happens!! I'd tough! I can take it!" no! I can't!!) or have stabbing back and rib pain at 35/36 wks.

Amen sister, amen. You never really know until you're in the trenches

  • I have a confession too...

    I still think they are.

Don't get me wrong, pregnancy is no walk in the park.  And some women really do have a hard time with serious health issues.  But the for the rest of pregnant women in society?  GET A GRIP.  My back hurts, my feet are swollen, I have the sh!ts, I'm nauseas, and I'm uncomfortable too but is it really worth bitching about every.single.day?  It's part of being pregnant.  So do yourself a favor and try to suck it up for a change :)

Phew, sorry.  Had to get that off my chest apparently.

  • I have a feeling my confession is going to go something more like this:
"I used to think giving birth without pain meds would be easy."

Well, not easy (never easy!), but surmountable. Pretty sure my rude awakening is just waiting in the wings.
  • Me! I have eaten my words and then some. I also thought I'd be one of those people who worked with no problem up until my due date, and the dr already put me on maternity leave because of sciatic nerve pain , previous back problems etc. I should learn to shut up! :)

this too.... I regret the day I told my boss "oh yeah, I'll have no problems working right up until delivery time."

Why, oh WHY did I say that?!

  • I've worried the entire time that I'd be the one with all those health issues. But God has blessed me and seen me through so far! I have complained out the wazooooooo about my back aches though. lol. And I'm trying to brace myself for the most horrific pain ever imaginable. People think I'm negative, but I think I'm just trying to prepare myself for reality. :0)

If you knew how lonely my life has been And how long I've been so alone And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along And change my life the way you've done

I was waiting for the pregnancy "glow" and "blossom," someone forgot to tell me about puking for months and months and the constipation and constant pain.

Just when I think it can't get worse I think of recovering from labor. Yikes.

    This. lol

  • Ya, I definitely used to think pregnant women were just being dramatic. Now I know the truth. It actually is extremely uncomfortable and frustrating! Especially the past week since it's 90 degrees here, and I'm near the end.

  • Ditto! I've been extremely lucky and had a pretty easy pregnancy. I had almost no morning sickness, and felt great up until last week. Now its starting to get to me, but I know it isn't as bad as it is for some women. That said, I still whine about it sometimes (on the Bump more than in real life) and I give credit to those women who are worse off than I am but still going about their lives as usual.

  • Yeah...guilty!  I used to think the forgetfulness was BS...boy was I wrong...now I have to go around making sure I turned the stove on or off depending on what phase of making a meal I'm on.

I'm tired and sore and moody and b!tchy...just stay out of my way.

  • I used to think it was a little nausea and you waddle like penguin but that was it. And that most women exaggerated their symptoms for sympathy.

Nobody told me about the horrible, painful constipation, the nausea that feels like you have a permanent stomach flu, the acid reflux, the pain from swelling. If that makes me a whiner then so be it. Excuse me for not enjoying feeling like cr ap every day for the past nine months.

I am thankful that I have not had serious complications and that LO is healthy and thriving but to be completely honest I hate being pregnant and it will be a long time before I even consider having another one.

  • actually, i'm kind of the complete opposite. i used to think pregnancy would be so awful, and although i had a horrid first tri, i must say, i LOVE LOVE LOVE being pregnant, and i have felt fantastic pretty much the whole time since 14 weeks. i also love the way my body looks. i will miss being pregnant so much.

    sorry you're not feeling well!

All of this......but I must admit, DH hasn't worked in over a month, and to get him to do things for me that I just dont want to, the past couple days I've been saying "but I'm 9 months pregnant!!!!"
