3rd Trimester

If you have a scheduled c-section...

Is there any need to bring a bag in when you check in prior to the c-section?  Other than the cameras, I can't think of what else I might need prior to moving to my post-partum room (at which time DH can go get the bag from the car).  I am sure I am overlooking some obvious things... what are they?

  • I can't think of anything.  I'm planning on leaving everything but the camera in the car.  I'll probably take a small bag with things like my cell phone, some chap stick, and a hair brush, just so I can freshen up a little bit after LO is born.

  • I'm having my c-section on monday and my friend who just had hers suggested putting a pair of mittens in your DH's pocket to use on LO right away because her baby scratched his little face in a few minutes.

  • Thanks for posting this.  I was just planning on bringing everything in when we showed up for the c/s.  It makes sense to just bring the "essentials" and leave the bags in the car.  With DS#1, I labored for almost 40 hours prior to my emergency c/s, so I felt like I had moved into the hospital by that point.

The mittens are a good idea.  DS#1 had scratches on his face when he was born.  It was crazy.  Those little nails are like razor blades :)
