Tongue tricks (not a TMI post)

Lately DS has figured out how to make raspberries and do other silly things with his tongue.  It's interfearing with our feedings.  He used to eat from a spoon so well but since this new tongue obsession he spits it out, blows it, makes a huge mess.  I am wondering if I should just keep at it or take a break from solids for a while until he's passed this phase?  Thing is, he is opening for more but I'm not sure how much is actually getting past his tongue and into his belly rather than on me and him!

Re: Tongue tricks (not a TMI post)

  • ...I'd keep at it.  Maybe feed him his cereal before his bottle so he is more interested in eating.

haha...Emerson is the same way!  I guess maybe try giving him half the bottle so he's not so hungry & then the cereal & then the remaining bottle..  IDK!  GL!!!!

  • Thanks for the advice.  I'm gonna try to keep at it but I may end up taking a couple day break if it doesn't improve soon.  Gramma is coming into town this weekend, I'll let her feed him a couple times!  lol
  • When my brother was a baby (he was my mom's first) she said she was holding him and feeding him and he rasp-berried his beets all over the place. Well my mom is a very skiddish person and it scared her when it did it so she screamed, threw her hand (with the spoon in it) in the air, the spoon came flying out and hit him on the forehead. She said he never spit anything out again.

    That's always an option! Wink

ROFL...I almost spit my coffee reading that one!

  • Parker has started this. I just do my best to make sure I get the food kind of farther back in his mouth. It cuts down on the amount he spits back at me. lol

DS does this when he nurses.  I would be mad if it wasn't so darn cute!
