Anyone elses kid hate the Dr's scale?

Ds throws a fit as soon as he sees it. Its one of those infant scales where you just set the child down on it. He always refuses to sit and lunges for me. I have to hide behind an adjoining wall while they do it, and they usually barely get a decent reading.

  • I bet they have a scale that he can stand on now.  That being said, Brady hates anything to do with the doctors office so he doesnt even like that.

  • Yes!!  My DD starts crying as soon as I start to put her down on it and they have a hard time getting an accurate reading.  At her 1 year visit, they had one she could stand on and that went MUCH better.  No problems at all!
  • DS flips out on the infant scale but is fine when it's the regular scale. My new clinic has a seated scale and he does fine in that too. Maybe ask if he can just use the regular scale next time.

  • DD hates the one you stand on just as much as the infant one. She freaks out and cries, which is odd because she is being adorable for the nurses 5 seconds before that.

We have a talking scale at home that she now likes to climb on to get to talk, so maybe she'll be better at her 2 yr appointment.

I think i'll ask for this next time. I'm not sure why they still want my 25 pounder on the infant scale anyway. ;)

  • She hates it.  I have to bride her with many stickers.  She'll usually sit just long enough for a Dora or Elmo sticker.

  • The infant scale, yes.

At the doc yesterday, she stood on the adult scale all by herself for the first time and didn't scream. lol That was a huge milestone.
