Hello Ladies! I haven't ever posted here although I've been lurking since DS was born [I just never have anything useful to add to topics ] but I have a question now.
Since DS was born we have used both an Infantino front to back carrier and a moby wrap. He outgrew both of these so I just ordered and Ergo. Im extremely excited about this, but was curious how ya'll felt.
If you have or have used both a carrier and wrap with a child over 25 lbs, which did you prefer?
Re: Wrap vs Carrier
DD is only 19 pounds, but I prefer wraps a million times over. So much that I sold all my other carriers (I had a Pikkolo, a Beco, and a Baby Bjorn - this one was a gift that we never used).
I really really liked my Beco, but I always chose a wrap over it since I found wraps more comfortable for us. So I sold it to a better home where it might get more love
ETA - This was just my opinion though...some people love carriers much more! You just have to go with what works best for you.
Well since she is heavy, we use woven wraps, which can't be made DIY very easily or effectively. So I usually either buy them new or off of the For Sale or Trade forum on thebabywearer.com. There are a lot that are very reasonable over there!
If you are looking for new wraps, I have heard good things about BBslens, and they aren't too much (I think around $100?). You can get them on FSOT for less than that though
I have wraps and an Ergo. I use both depending on what I'm doing and where I'm going. If I'm going somewhere that M will be up and stay up, I go with a wrap. But if I'm going somewhere that I know he will want to get down and do his own exploring pretty frequently, I'll take the Ergo. DH LOVES the Ergo. My Mom and Dad will both use the Ergo. I like it, but I'm a wrapper at heart. If you can afford both, I'd get both - if you liked the Moby you'll probably enjoy wrapping. But carriers are def. easier and more Daddy-friendly.
That's not to say some Daddy's aren't wrappers - I've seen and know many, but MY DH isn't there yet.
Thank ya'll very much! I am excited about getting my Ergo, but I think I will look into getting an inexpensive woven wrap as well.
My answer is of course wovens ;-)
I use different length wraps for different things like I use a short wrap in situations where lots of folks find an ergo to be easier (like when kiddo wants up and down a lot).
Wraps I think give the most custom fit to both wearer and baby - plus you can do many carries with them which is nice. I also much prefer a high back carry which can't really be done in a buckle carrier and is most easily done in a woven.
