Do I need to upgrade to a bigger apartment? I live in the typical 600 sq. ft. 1-BR apartment. Is anyone planning on making that work? The idea of spending more money for a bigger apartment is a bit daunting, especially when you factor in the cost of childcare as well. What's everyone doing?

I'm in a place similar in size to this and we plan to make it work for the first year. We are going to try to be baby gear minimalists!
Ok, so I guess we definitely need to move, but we probably don't need a full 2 BR. I think my building has some 1 BR + home office/den types of places, so maybe we can move into one of those. I hate the thought of moving every year, but I also hate the thought of throwing thousands of dollars away on a place that's bigger than we need.

haha us too, I think it is actually a good thing because new parents with a house (or more space in general) probably purchase a lot of things they don't end up using.

Yes, we live in a 1 br. and plan to make it work for the first 6-12 months MAX. We will be keeping things to a minimum and will possibly move some furniture around.
To best make this work, we plan to use a Pack-N-Play b/c it is an adjustable "crib" with the changing table attached.
We live in a 550 sq. ft 1 bedroom - bedroom is a small upstairs area - room enough for our bed and the baby crib, our dresser, and thankfully a good size closet
We will be using the pack 'n' play as a crib as well! With the bassinet attachment and the changer it seems ideal and I have many friends who have done the same..
My husband & I lived in a 290 sq. ft apartment for almost 8 years so we're ok with being creative space-wise, we like to joke that at least we'll be able to see the baby ALL of the time!
