Bummed about Mother's Day

I have to work in the afternoon/evening. However I was looking forward to going out to brunch and maybe a couple little surprises from DH. Then on Tuesday DH found out that his extra work project which was supposed to be on Saturday during the day got moved to an overnight Saturday night. Now he will be working straight from 4-5 pm on Sat to about 9-10 am on Sunday. He tried to tell me that we could still go out for brunch but he will need that time to sleep so he can take care of DD while I'm at work. I know it shouldn't be a big deal, but because it was my FIRST mother's day I really wanted to celebrate.

Re: Bummed about Mother's Day

  • well hopefully you have a heck of a lot more mother's days to celebrate.   really until my kids are older i don't expect much other than to sleep in a bit on that day!  or think of it this way--you are a mom everyday so celebrate every single day!!!

  • I'm sorry Momma. Maybe there will be a couple of surprises throughout the day. And just continue to enjoy your LO who, I'm sure, makes everyday an awesome Mother's Day.

Why don't you celebrate by going out to brunch on Sat?  I actually prefer doing things before the actual holiday, like Valentine's day, because restaurants are so busy that day anyways.  It will still be special and then maybe you can open your present on Sun so you can do something then.  He could also buy some pastries so you can have breakfast together before he goes to sleep.

Unfortunately I work on Sat too, but I love the idea of having a little breakfast just the three of us...not quite the way I envisioned breakfast in bed, but it would still be nice!
