Hi girls!
I'm new to the board, and my husband and I live in Jefferson right now but are going to be moving to Buford in the next few months. I was wondering if any of you have delivered or are delivering at the Northside Hospital in Cumming? I've heard that it's brand new and really nice. Anybody else been there and can share their experiences? I am planning to deliver there in october, and would just like some feedback. Thanks!
Re: Northside Hospital - Forsyth/Cumming
Thank you! This helps a lot!
I didn't know this! I'm so jealous! We were in the NICU at Northside Perimeter for weeks and there was nothing like this there. It would have made that whole experience SO MUCH BETTER.
yes!!! I delivered my 2nd child there in Feb. My 1st was at Northside ATL. This is hands down the best hospital EVER! Staff is awesome. Rooms are nice and big. Food is good. Parking is free. I had a C section. So the surgical rooms and recovery for both pregnancies were different. 1st one was emergency and 2nd one was planned. With the 1st it was lots of people rushing around and in recovery they had to put people in the halls. Took me over 2 hours to get back to my room because they didn't have enough staff to take us back up. This time I didn't go in on my planned C section date because my water broke. I was in so much pain and had so many nurses working on me. I found out that I was the only one there. I was all by myself in recovery and was back up to my room in 45 mins!
Now here is the only downfall that I learned on my C section. The dr's there do a rotation on practices not your practices doing rounds on their dr's. So I had this woman I have never met before from a different practice do my surgery. She was great but what was the point for me to see all those dr's at my practice if that wasn't there night for rounds there? Nobody ever told me that.
Kennestone has a couple of these rooms too- but no kitchen area. Such a nice thing to offer though. I think they are mainly for short stays but it was perfect for us since Gavin only had to stay in the NICU one night longer than me. It let me avoid the dreaded car ride home with no baby. I was ready to sleep on the NICU floor rather than face that...
FYI- the NICU at Northside Atlanta is a higher level of care than the one at Northside Forsyth. So Forsyth doen't offer the most intensive care. You can probably read about the differences in Level II and Level III care on their website. or just google it. Level III is the highest level of care.
Yes, I took the tour, and delivered there in November, 2008. We will be delivering there again around August 4th. I toured Northside Atlanta and Emory Johns Creek. I think that Northside Forsyth was better than both, hands down.
The staff mostly came from the Northside Atlanta location and are very knowledgeable and caring. The place is beautiful and spacious.
They will let you labor in the shower/tub, but they do not have "birthing" tubs. I think North Fulton Regional is the only one in the area that has the facilities for that.
We had a very positive experience and are looking forward to delivering there again.
