I swear by Triple Paste anytime there is redness or it gets raw. I also apply Maalox to the area a couple time per day if the skin is raw. Those both clear it up fast for us.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste always works for us. And I let her run around without without a diaper to air it out.
I have also heard about using Mylanta, but make sure it is not mint. My cousin's hubby put that on her baby's rash not thinking and poor little guy went bonkers because it stung.
I'm not sure what the Maalox/Mylanta does, but I apply it with a cottonball heavily and allow the area to dry. I normally put Triple Paste or A&D on top of it. I believe it helps most if the rawness is due to acidic poop which is normally what causes DD to become raw. It may be worth a try.

Definitely worth a try, especially if it helps with the rawness. My poor baby couldn't sleep last night and she just kept crying "owie mommy owie." I can't take that again.
Thanks so much for your suggestions, and good tip on avoiding the mint. I would like to think I would've thought of that, but I'm a sleep-deprived zombie today.
We use Triple Paste. If it's a really bad YEAST diaper rash (raised, red--Google it for images) you can use Lotrimin AF twice a day or so and it works wonders.
We took DS to the dr for a horrible diaper rash two weeks ago and the dr. told us to use either Desitin (purple tube) and maalox. She said the Desitin has the highest zinc oxide 40% and just to keep a continuous layer on his skin. We started and within 2 days the rash was no longer open an oozing. The blisters had completely vanished, he still has two little red marks, but he is 1000% better.
Re: Help with a diaper rash that won't go away?

Heard it helps to cool the skin and neutralize the acid.
