I hope this picture posts... This is not my window, but sorta looks like it. Same idea. Large window, wall(molding) then another window under it. The lower windows have blinds on them. Then we have very long curtains but they are pretty much just for looks. The larger, high window has nothing blocking them and the sun is BEAMING in. Other then the heat factor, the sun is gonna damage our sofa's... WWYD? tint the window? get blinds or a shade up there?? I don't have much "designer" in me.
TIA

Re: window treatments NBR -what would you do?
LOL, without laughing... do you mean shutter's on the inside? I've never seen that.
well, like I said... that picture is not our window, but the concept is sorta the same... it's a pretty big window up there...
What kind of blinds do you have on the lower windows? And like pp, do you want them to operate?
I think I would like them to have an option to open. I'd hate to have such nice big window's closed all the time.... We have blinds on the lower window. Um, I think they are regular (horizontal) blinds.
I've never heard of them... So I google'd.. How do you open/close them? From the pic's I've seen the shutter's don't have a cord/string or anything. Not to mention my window is WAY to high for a cord... You shut em with a stick or something???
You can get motorized blinds which are pretty expensive, or you can get the kind that has a little ring (like a key ring) that you would hook a telescoping pole to and open/close them that way. I've seen this done before and mostly they are kept tilted in a specific direction regularly so that it deflects the sun.
Another option is a solar shade, it is transparent but somehow they block up to 95% of UV.
HUM! I'll look into these. Some of the stuff I saw at lowe's was much more expensive then that. (but I need to check size and stuff)
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
