My nephew is 16, and is getting a 2003 Sunfire as his first car. Which is a hell of a lot nicer, respectively, than mine was.
The year was 1996. I drove a 1988 Ford Tempo. Manual transmission, one of the side-panels was a different shade of red than the rest of the car. You didn't need the key in the ignition to start it, but occassionally I had to make my best friend get out, open the hood, and "jiggle the wire" on the battery, lol.
Re: Tell me about your first car.
It was 1999 and I had a 1993 Pontiac Sunbird. It had a dent on the driver's side door and was touched up in various places with pink nailpolish (the car was red). I loved it!!
In 1999, I got a 1988 Honda Accord. YUCK! LOL. But hey, it worked and was like a tank... I crashed so many times, and was fine!
My cousin who is just now 16 got THE car from Transformers... you know, the yellow camero bumble bee? THE ACTUAL CAR THAT WAS IN THE MOVIE. SPOILED BRAT!
Mazda Protege. It was pretty new because my Dad bought it and hated it. I used it for 139K miles!
7 years later I retired "Dimples" who had earned her name since everyone drove her and everyone managed to hit something minor with her.
Your nephews car is nice than mine was as well.
It was 2001, I got a 1994 Chevy Cavalier, 4 door. It pretty much looked like a box. However I LOVED it and actually kept it all through college and for a couple of years after.
My girlfriend had a Talon in college! We loved that thing!
That is awesome. My husband had to drive the family hand-me-down car (also nicknamed the Silver Bullet) for a year before he could get something else.
It was a BMW.
That sounds nice, right?
Well, it was 1996 and it was a 1985. I don't remember the model name but it was the little boxy two-door kind. And I shared it with my twin brother. It really was a great car, despite being really old.
It was 1997 and I had an 1986 Ford Taurus that my parents bought when I was in kindergarten. We called him Jerry. I would give him hugs on the steering wheel.
It had a digital dashboard, so awesome. It had Rusty Jones rust-protector, which meant that it ended up rusting...awesome. My older brother had it before me and he put a bunch of Grateful Dead, Phish, and other bumper stickers.
It was the best first car. The day after I got my license, my car broke down. I had to learn how to take care of everything. I knew where the power steering fluid, oil, etc.. was. I am thankful I had that car.
It died 1yr later. It was a sad day.
Mine was a 1973 Chevelle. I had worked for 2 years to save up for it. I loved it! It got totalled by drug dealers with no insurance, so then I bought a 1972 Nova.?
I am a classic Chevy kind of gal. ?
it was 2001 ..... I got a 94 Eclipse. Black, moon roof, cd player .... I thought it was great. I bought it from a fam that was selling their 17yr olds car because she was going to college and was getting a new one .... at times I wish I was spoiled (lol)
But it makes me appreciate all the cars I got after

Back in 1997 I got a teal '91 Geo Storm. The stereo system was worth more than the car. It had a little problem with it sporadically turning off while I was driving which when you are in the fast lane on a 6 lane hwy, can be rather scary. I got rid of it back in 2002 and got a 1996 Honda Accord.
