Bringing LO's Diaper Bag To The Hospital?

I was just wondering if any of you plan on bringing LO's diaper bag to the hospital when you go into labor or if you just plan on putting LO's stuff in your hospital bag.

Re: Bringing LO's Diaper Bag To The Hospital?

  • I will be bringing ours.  I have packed her diaper bag with essentials and her going home outfit.  I'd rather be prepared and prefer to keep her stuff separate from mine and keep it nice and neat.

  • Yep, I packed her her own bag.

  • We brought it with us and left it in the car, once she got here, DH went to get it. Technically we really didn't need it, but I will probably do the same thing again.
  • I'm bringing ours.  This way I can keep all of his things in his bag and all of the baby stuff that they'll give me at the hospital will also go into his bag.  And, it leaves more room in my bag for the extra pads, mesh undies, etc that they'll send me home with.

  • I will just pack one big bag and put hers in with mine. The hospital has diapers and wipes so just a few outfits.  I plan on breastfeeding so no need for bottles, but the hospital has thoughs also if I need it.  I don't think I'll need a diaper bag just to ride home.
  • nope. We just used one of the free ones to put the diapers, wipes, etc they sent us home with and I had their outfits in my bag both times.

You have so much stuff it's easier to have fewer bags IMO.

  • bringing ours - acutally we've been advised to bring 3 bags. 1 for L&D, 1 for postpartum and 1 for Bug
  • Absolutely, the biggest one I have, and it will be nearly empty. The only thing that will be in it when I go is a going home outfit, maybe two in case he messes one up.

When my DD was born they let us take anything not nailed down that we could carry home with us. We could take as many diapers as we could fit in our bags, blankets, hats, formula samples, you name it. I was nursing, but supplementing with formula and they left two cases of ready made bottles in our room to take if we could carry it. I didn't have to buy formula for months! It also gave us lots of room for pacifiers, bottle nipples, and even some cookies from the snack room.

  • Some hospitals give you a small one for you to take things home in. We plan to use that one for daycare.

  • Ours is in the trunk so we can grab it if we need it. I put outfits for her hospital pictures in my bag so unless we really need the diaper bag, it doesn't have to be dragged in.
  • I actually found a smaller diaper bag at BRU on clearance for $5 that is really cute and I'll be using for her hospital bag. I don't need to bring much since the hospital provides most things. I just packed a couple outfits, a coming home outfit, a few diapers (just in case) and a small pack of wipes (just in case). Otherwise I didn't see the need in carrying another big bag when we already have my duffle bag, plus my family likes to bring a lot of gifts to the hospital - so i know we'll have all that stuff too on top of getting LO home. So I figured the smaller the better. Plus the small bag will be used to hold one outfit and just a couple diapers for those quick store runs (to wal-mart and back or whatever) so I don't have to lug around a huge diaper bag all the time.

  • I'm bringing an empty bag. I'm calling it our "swag bag" because at our hospital, anything that is open at the time you check out (such as diapers and wipes) you get to take with you.

  • I plan to. Just a few outfits and some bows, the rest will be left for taking home diapers and stuff we get from the hospital.

  • Whatre yall packing into diaper bag?
I have: a few onesies, a going home outfit, random socks of various sizes to see which fits best going home, 2 packs of pacifiers, lotions, wash clothes, a newborn hat, a couple recieving blankets, the going home blanket and the baby care kit with things like tweezers/thermometer (even tho we wont need it being in a hospital and all..)...I think thats it.

  • nope, just put his going home outfit (well two, one NB and one 0-3), receiving blanket, hat and booties in our hospital bag.  our hospital supplies all of the necessities, so we're packing very light.  we keep reusable grocery bags in our car if we need a bag to bring home extras when we leave the hospital.
  • We're only bringing her a coming home outfit and some socks, so it doesn't take up much room.  I'll just throw it in my bag.  Last time we came home with a lot more than what we went with, but included in that were two diapers bags (one from the hospital and one from a formula company) so carrying it home wasn't a problem.

  • Nope. I took one with DD & never touched it. They supply everything you need & we didn't even change her out of the hospital shirts (she stay swaddled anyway) until we were checking out. So the only thing I'm taking for him is a onesie & socks (his coming home "outfit").

All the stuff we can take home with us will go into our bag or the diaper bag they give you in the hospital.
