3rd Trimester

35+ weekers- anyone not have a pediatrician yet?

We still haven't decided on a pediatrician. I met with one months ago- I liked him, but he is going to be away for the first 1/2 of July, and we move mid July anyway so it seems pointless to choose him (he's the only doctor in the practice.)

We have another interview today, and one on the 18th since he only does meet and greets once a month and we couldn't go to the last one. So I guess we won't be deciding on anyone until I am almost 38 weeks.

Anyone else not decided on one yet? My OB keeps asking me about it...

  • No.  We are procrastinating. We have one picked out, we just want to go do an interview to make sure he's not major quack. It's taking us forever to just go do it though!

  • we decided at 36 weeks....not like they are going to deny your child medical care if you dont pick one
  • Smorz, your pic is really pretty!

We are having twins and I had a ped all picked out, but she is a friend of my SIL who is a pediatric cardiologist at the same hospital.  But thanks to military insurance we don't get to pick who we see after the kids are born, we are assigned a military family doctor.  So we get whoever is on call when I go into labor and then we have to wait to be assigned one after our boys get added to our insurance. yay.

  • Just picked one out last week.  There really is no harm in not having one yet, except that if you have your baby you will wind up with a random doc in the hospital and your actual ped will not see your baby until after you leave.  Who knows, you might get one in the hospital you like and sign on.  While it was nice to have off the list, I wouldn't stress over it.  My OB kept asking as well.

You have Tricare I assume? I have Tricare standard and my husband has prime, so I guess that's why I don't have to deal with that stuff.

  • I just picked mine yesterday and will be letting my OB know today... And I'm just a hair ahead of you ladies. I don't think you're slacking too much. Then again, I am a procrastinator myself... (Haven't packed my hospital bag either, I keep thinking  I should, and just don't...)
