Oregon Babies

Baby Registry Suggestions & Must-Haves?

I'm doing my registry on Amazon. I asked for ideas on September and Second Tri boards but I find Oregonians tend to be so green and like-minded...

Any ideas? Baby boy, due in September. I'm big on natural products and I tend towards bright colors more than baby pastels. TIA!

Re: Baby Registry Suggestions & Must-Haves?

  • I just went to a baby shower a weekend or two ago and I got her 3 of my favorite things I had.  That would be:

A Woombie- it is a swaddle sleep sack.  It was amazing for my colicky son

Earth Mama Angel Baby's Angel Bottom Balm- I LOVE THIS STUFF!  It is a small container but my son is almost 8 months old and I am still using the same container.

Baby Oxy Clean- pretty amazing how well it gets stains out.

  • I second the Bottom Balm...it's great stuff!  Also:

    - I registered for a couple Kiddopotamus Swaddle Wraps and they were lifesavers!  My baby girl was pretty fussy at night for a few months, and the swaddle wraps were so helpful as part of our "soothing" routine.

    - Infant Mylicon gas drops

    - cloth diapers - they make great burp rags!

    - bouncy seat (nothing spendy, the simple ones are great)

    - floor mat play center for tummy time and later on, to play with

    - extra sheets for crib and pack n' play

    - diapers - they are expensive!  Might as well put some on the registry. Big Smile

  • If you are going to breastfeed I highly recommend the brest frend. It was a lifesaver for us. That boppy was just a frustration when I was already having a hard time with positioning and the stupid thing kept shifting off my lap.

I agree on the swaddlers. They got us through the first 4 months. I hear the miracle blanket is great and I will buy one for next time around probably but the kiddopotamus ones worked fine for us.

Book - Happiest Baby on the Block. Really helped us figure out how to soothe our newborn.

The bouncer you registered for is awesome!

A carrier. I love our ring sling (which I made myself). It's adjustable and will last until baby is pretty big. I wish I'd had it when DS was newborn. I didn't make it until a few months ago but I don't go anywhere without it now. I could have gotten so much more done when he was littler if I'd had it then.

Now that I know more about being a mom the gifts I get for showers are the brest frend, the swaddlers and the sling.

  • Oooh!  I just thought of a few more items, since I noticed you had breastfeeding-related items on your registry:

Medela Soft Shells - great for protecting sore, chapped nipples from rubbing against the inside of your bra/tops.  Yes, they are sort of bulky but when you're bumming around the house the first 6 weeks postpartum you'll be thankful for them!

    LOTS of Lansinoh nipple cream

    My Breast Friend nursing pillow

Are you implying you don't like cloth diapers? I'm determined to try them but I'm registering for some disposables as well.

I'm waiting on bedding until I pick my crib - hoping to find one secondhand.

  • No, not implying I don't like cloth diapers...I'm a big fan of them; just saying they are nice to have on hand as burp rags as well.  They are packaged in large quantities and are soft and absorbent.  I was a cloth diaper baby myself.  Smile
  • Ahh well I do like multi-taskers, and seems like diapers would of course have to be absorbent, so makes sense. Wasn't trying to be offensive, it just came off funny. Smile

Thanks again for all the advice guys!
