A friend from school has this has her facebook status:
47 girls pregnant in the high school. -my former HS-
6 girls pregnant in the middle school -also my former MS-
& 1 girl pregnant in ____ school -a nearby elementary school-
I don't know how true this is, but if it is I feel horrible.

Someone elementary school age could carry a child? I find this a little scary. Not even the age thing, but the fact that their body could even sustain another life to term. Doesn't 5th grade have like... 11 year olds? That would be the oldest that one child could be. I guess it's not unheard of. But absolutely pretty scary.
I don't really know what the solution is for all the "teen pregnancies" (or preteen... jeez) but I feel like there absolutely MUST be a lack of education or access to condoms or SOMETHING. I have no idea. This is an issue that weighs heavy on my heart.
When I was like 10 there was a girl at my school that got pregnant. Not sure whatever happened to her, but that is just crazy to think about a 10 year old having sex.
One of my ex bfs his mother was 13 when she gave birth. I couldnt imagine being any younger. Makes me sad for everyone involved.
The youngest person to ever have a baby was five. Very sad.

By high school, you are a lot more capable of making a concious (sp?) decision. As bad as it sounds in high school, 'everyones doing it,' but by then most everyone knows that sex= possability of a baby. By fifth grade you may have had the class, but how much attention do you pay?
Then again, by 5th grade I was STILL playing babydolls. While I knew I wanted to be a mom someday, I was not even beginning to think about sex!

My cousin had a baby when she was 10 (she was raped though).
That's crazy. And this is the same reason it pisses me off when parents protest birth control being given out in schools. Teens are going to have sex reguardless. Protected or not. Stop protesting freaking condoms people!!
