I had a milk blister and because it was so painful to nurse, I laid off that side and pumped only for a couple of days. I applied warm compresses prior to pumping and did the same when I went back to nursing as well. I understand a bad latch can cause them, so when I started nursing on that side again, I worked on my LO's latch.

For a few days I tried hot compresses and nursing/pumping immediately after, but that didn't seem to help. Eventually I lanced it with a sterilized needle and then squeezed out semi-solid milk. It was painful and gnarly, but it worked.

Did you just stick the needle into the blister and squeeze?
