mine does usually... our trick is making sure she eats enough during the day.... she eats every 2.5-3 hours and I put her on one breast, then the other, then back again to the first and then the second. I do this for at least 3 days during a growth spurt. I believe the trick is really how much they weigh... bigger babies, eat more, go longer without a feed at night.

DD2 is EBF and has been STTN most nights, even 10 hours twice. But DD1 didn't STTN until we moved her from our room to her nursery when she was three months, and even then, it only lasted two months before she started teething and didn't STTN again until she was 10 months.
Anyway, what helps with DD2 is that I nurse her every 2-3 hours during the day. If she's sleeping past the three hour mark, I wake her up to nurse -- although sometimes I let her go longer if I'm in the middle of something. I also try to keep her awake as long as possible during the day, and she tends to be more wakeful in the morning and evening. I always swaddle her overnight as well.

We use the same "routine" with our 8 day old son that we did with our 5 yo daughter when she was a baby and was breastfed. Feed off both breasts every 2-3 hrs during the day, then at the feeding closest to 9PM, they get swaddled and put into the crib with the white noise machine on. Worked like a charm for both kids.....they would/will wake once around 1am and once around 5am to eat, but then it was right back to being swaddled and in the crib immediately afterward.
DD STTN after her 6 weeks growth spurt. LO will STTN when they are ready. Some say it has to do with weight. DD cluster feeds right before she goes down. I think it has to do with how efficiently your LO eats.I make sure she gets 3 boobs before bed otherwise she will wake up in 4 hours. I also make sure she is nice and cool for the first 2 boobs and wrap her up for her last. She will usually fall asleep while still eating.I follow her lead for the timing though.
Define STTN. We've had a few nights of 5.5-6 hour stretches. I don't really do anything different. It's just about how long he sleeps (and how long I can stand it before I feel like my boobs are going to explode)
My LO is EBF, 9 weeks old and has been STTN (8-9 hours) since about 4 weeks. We are so lucky! He slept 4 hours at a time right away. I think swaddling definitely helps!
