I could really use some suggestions

My 2 1/2 year old is potty trained and doing well with it, but has issues with wiping. She won't let me wipe all the way and holds her little legs together, and wants to wipe on her own, but doesn't wipe well enough. She is getting sore and red down there and Im just looking for some suggestions on how to handle it. Tonight before bed I put some diaper cream on her and a little bit of powder to help soothe it, Im hoping it starts to clear up soon. She doesnt like cry about it, she just says its itchy and I remember being itchy occasionally when I was little so I know its not weird. Im pretty sure there is no infection since its just red and theres nothing else going on.

  • Any chance she'd let you go and then she take a turn (or vice versa)?

That's what we have to do with a LOT of things (wiping, tooth brushing, etc etc)

Maybe try asking:  "Do you want to wipe first or should Mommy go first?"

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

  • Thats a good idea :) Im trying to use the flushable wipes too so I get it clean, but at the same time Im not sure if the moisture from that is making it worse? It can be so tricky because it can come and go and if she isn't telling me its itchy, I don't always notice if its red or bothering her.

  • I had the same problem with mine. I just let her sit in the tub for a little while, and then I put Triple Paste medicated ointment for problem diper rash. I even used it when she was a baby, and still keep it on hand because she gets red every once in a while. You can buy it at Wal*Mart, and it's in a blue and white tube. You don't have to use much because just a little bit goes a long way, and lasts a very long time.
