In college I spent a semester abroad living with a friend and her 18 month old son. She was pregnant at the time, and delivered her 2nd son when I was there. Her husband was away during this time, on deployment to the middle east. This friend, more like a sister, is by far the most influential mother that I know. I learned so much from her, and continue to. I strive to be as patient, creative, loving, and fun as she is. I send her a Mother's Day card every year telling her just this.
Who has been influential for you?
Re: IHO Mother's Day... who has been an influential mother for you?
Aw, that's a really sweet story.
I can't think of anyone other than my own mom right now.
My mom married way too young, never wanted kids and became an alcoholic- so definitely not my role model- but now I realize she was. I think I overcompensate to make sure I do the opposite of her. In a way, it was a good thing to learn because it made me realize what is and isn't important.
I was very lucky to be surrounded by friends with happy familes who always adopted me at college and grad school. I saw what healthy relationships were like and what real moms did for their kids. The two best were the moms of my 2 roommates from law school. I love their moms!
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
My Nana, because she has been there to not only to raise her own three kids, but to help raise my brother, my sister, my two cuzs, and now my daughter and her two cuzs. I admire her for everything she does for our whole family, and am sad that she has to spend this Mother's Day pretty much bed ridden.
