(1) Which way do you like the best of all the variations? (2) What do you honestly think about the name Caitlin Avery? (spelling of Caitlin obviously still up in the air)
I forgot to mention that, even though we realize some people will call her "Kate" for short, we want her to primarily go by her full name. Which is why Katelyn is most likely not how we would spell it, since it makes it so easy for people to shorten it to Kate.
I can't even tell you ladies how much DH and I keep going back and forth on this topic! I'm ready for it to be settled on...I need your help and honesty
I like it spelled Katelynn the best, as odd as that may be.
I think it flows nicely with Avery.

I have a cousin named Caitlin. Prior to that I had never seen it spelled that way, but I really like it the best out of your three choices. The other too look like you are trying too hard to make it look unique. I know a girl that named her daughter Katelynn. I don't like that way either.
My best friend is named Caitlin and she is Irish. She would tell you that this is the CORRECT spelling of the name. I'm not that passionate about it, but that is what the native says. I think it depends what you want. If you want the "traditional" or "Irish" spelling, then go with Caitlin. If you want to go with the anglicized version, then Katelyn or Kaitlyn. I have known and taught many Caitlins in my life and I have seen all of these spellings:
I love the honesty ladies, keep it coming. What makes it even harder is that my mom isn't very fond of the middle name Avery. I completely value her opinion and usually we agree on most things, but this one we don't. I know it me and Dh's decision, but it is in the back of my mind that my mom isn't sold on the middle name.
My 3 year old is named Caitlyn, and we call her Caity. I chose to spell her name with a "y" because I liked the idea of a nickname to be her everyday name. Caiti didn't look as cute as Caity to me.
Glad you're interested in such a cute name regardless of how you end up spelling it!!
My name is Kaitlin. So, close to the traditional spelling. When I was little, i went by Katy, and as I got older, I went by Kait a lot. Most of my friends from college still call me Kait, too.
I don't think it's that hard to shorten, though people do spell it Kate on occasion (which doesn't bother me - I'm used to all of the wacky spellings that I get....the only time it really bothered me was when I couldn't find the little souvenir license plates with the right spelling. I would always see Caitlin and Kaitlyn.).

Thia is the name we are thinking of using, and my favorite spelling is Kaitlin. Too bad about the license plates. My daughter is Meghan, and quite often we can only find little knick knacks with the spelling Megan. I guess both my girls will be in the same boat.
I know I'm totally on this post, and who knows if anyone will read it... I know a couple who are naming their daughter this name... spelled... Kaytlin.
Yes, they switched the y and i. It took all I had not to reply to the Facebook post and inform them of their error

Caitlin, the Irish version of Catherine, is traditional.
ETA: We use a full name too - every name doesn't need a nickname, and she can decide for herself when she's older how she wants her name handled.

I like Katelyn the best because when she is older she can shorter it easily to Kate...
I think that Katelyn (or however you decide to spell it) Avery is very pretty.

Personally, I would go with Caitlin or Kaitlyn, but that's just me.
And Caitlin Avery is very pretty
This exactly. Caitlin is the traditional Irish spelling. Caitlin Avery is lovely
If it makes a difference I have two friends named "Caitlin" who go by "Cait". Never had an issue that I know of

I like it spelled Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn Avery sounds like a very nice name!
It bothers me a lot when people spell Katelyn Caitlin. It's an anglicised pronunciation of a beautiful Irish name.
My favourite spelling of the pronunciation you want is Katelyn.
