can we take allergy med while BF?

Do all medications have the warning to consult a professional if pregnant or breastfeeding?  I am having the worst time with allergies, can I take something?

    I *think* Claritin and Benadryl are okay.  Check out www.safefetus.com if you want to double check them.  And I always think it's worth a phone call to your doctor to double check.  Hope you feel better soon!

    I take claritin D.  It is okay to take while breastfeeding per my Dr.

    Claritin, Zyrtec, and Benadryl are all safe for the baby.  They do sometimes cause a decrease in supply, so you have to be alert for that possibility.  Personally, I have used Zyrtec with no supply problems.

    My doc said I could take Zyrtec and it wouldn't hurt the baby, but it could decrease my milk supply. (Since antihistamines are meant to dry you up). She advised me to take it sparingly, as needed (not every day, like I usually do during allergy season). I've only taken it once so far this spring.

    My doc said claritin is fine, but no decongestant.
