Would you buy...

Something that was involved in a recall if there was a fix for it?

If you did would you rather the person you are buying it from get all of the replacement parts from the manufacturer or buy the item and then get them yourself?

Depends on the reason for the recall. If it's for a label like the bumbo recall was then I don't need it fixed.

For safety recalls, I'd want them to get it fixed I think.

  • I think it would really depend on the item.  If you're asking about something specific, what is it?

The Maclaren recall didn't phase me one bit.  Got the hinge covers, put them on and called it a day.

  • It's for a crib.  I called the recall hotline and spoke with a lady who said it's for the slatted panels.  The slats could break so you can send away for brand new panels instead.

The same brand/crib type were involved in a recall for the drop sides coming loose, but this model has a fixed side, so it wasn't involved in that part of the recall.

  • Depends on what type of item and the extent of the recall.
