Well, our profile book is definitely gone. I received an email from artscow.com that an "unfortunate fire incident" caused them to lose many saved projects. So I get to to our profile all over again. We had even already had our adoption consultant review the book online and give us comments, and then made the changes. So now we're starting over.
We had our home visit today, which was also our last of three home study meetings!! We still have a few things to get together (our doctors both failed to send a copy of our drug screens and HIV tests, we need to do a sex offender registry search, get a fed ex number, GBI fingerprints, and a few other things). I'm REALLY hoping that we can be done this week and be approved by next week. Our social worker is already drafting the home study and can have it done within 24 hours of receiving the rest of the paperwork.
I feel physically exhausted from all of this. This morning I spent almost 3 hours getting our 911 screen and criminal background check because I kept getting the run around from different places about where I need to go. After talking to three people on the phone and going to three different offices, I finally got it done. We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, but WOW is the home study a pain. We never tried to TTC, but I would imagine that it's even more exhausting for those who have gone through all of the emotions of failed fertility treatments, and then moved on to adoption.
I am just soooo ready to have a little one at home and am very anxious to be home study approved.
Re: Updates re: missing profile book and home study
Ugh. I'm sorry you have to deal with re-doing the whole profile. I remember how many hours we put into ours. I hope it goes faster the second time for you.
Yes, it's physically (and emotionally) exhausting to go through it all, but once you have everything turned in and ready, it's such a great feeling! We went out to celebrate - that's how excited we were!
Hope you can get everything done that you want to get done this week. Good luck.
Oh man. So sorry you weren't able to find a backup copy anywhere.
It certainly is a process, but we are here to cheer you on!
I'm just catching up on the lost profile book. That royally sucks - I'm so sorry. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. If you want to change programs, we used picaboo and really liked it. I thought it was easier to use (aka more amateur) than artscow.
Hang in there. Maybe it's time to treat yourself to a massage or mani/pedi? Always perks me up
