DD just became interested in her big girl bed (which has been set up in a seperate big girl room for a couple months). We have not been pushing it but have been talking about it to try to get her comfortable with the idea. Well, Sunday and yesterday she insisted on napping in there and she did great....went right to bed and slept almost 2 hours both times. Last night she decided she was ready to sleep there for bedtime. She went to bed great, slept well, but got up at 5:20. She normally gets up about 7:30. Ugh, I can not handle that right now! I have a three week old baby and between the two of them, I got about 3 hours total sleep last night.
I don't want to make DD#1 go back to her crib, she is obviously ready for the big girl bed now...but I can't have her getting up at 5:20 either. What should I do? Will she just gradually go back to sleeping later? Let her cry in her room when she gets up and hope she goes back to bed till a reasonable time? I don't know what to do! HELP!
Re: Sleep help needed (big girl bed related)....
How are you keeping her in the room right now? You mentioned letting her cry until she falls back asleep. I'm just curious how you are keeping her in there. When we tried the big boy bed for my youngest he kept running around in his room and out of his room as well. So frustrating I tell ya.
I think that you should let your daughter sleep in her bed. She'll regulate her sleep time. I'm sure she is just waking early b/c she's getting used to a new room and the new bed.
Congratulations on your baby!
I had the same problem. My daughter kept getting up because she was scared to be in her own room especially when it was storming so I set her bed up in my room. It took some time getting her to stay in it and not my bed, but I kept assuring her that it would be okay, and she just took to it. Sometimes I had to let her get really wore out to get her to sleep all night, but she still gets up early.
DD sleeps in a big bed now. She can climb in and out, but she won't get out without our permission. It is the oddest thing. We know she can get out, but she just sits there until we come and get her.
