Pregnant after a Loss

Anyone really "pop" or show after 20 weeks?

I have been waiting to really see my belly expand.  I have a definite pouch on my lower belly but just fat on the top part.  I have one of those belllies that looks like a b.  I am really freaking out becuase I thought for sure at 20 weeks my belly would look like a pg belly.  I was a size 8 before pg with not a flat belly. I am not wearing maternity clothes, I am just wearing my bigger sizes before I lost weight.  I am concerned and want to call the doctor. I just had my u/s last week and things seemed ok.  Help

  • ok, it's time to breathe.  everyone shows differently and at different times.  i showed early, but i have a very short torso so there was literally no place for things to go but out.  if everything was fine at your appointment last week, i'd try to relax.

  • Just remember that everyone carries a baby differently, I know it is hard not to compare yourself to others but you will drive yourself crazy.  I didn't really look super pregnant until after 20 weeks just a little rounder; trust me you will pop.

  • I popped around 18/19 weeks but I am barely 5'1 and have less than 1" between my hips and waist.  I was a size 6/8 pre-pregnancy.  I am carrying all out front.

PP is right that everyone shows and carries differently. I'm feeling like the stay puffed marshmallow woman right now. Soon, there will be no difference between my boobs and belly - be thankful if you still have the separation!

  • Everyone always commented to me how little my belly was at 20 weeks, so no worries.  Even when I went in for my u/s at 20 weeks the tech said "oh you have a little belly."  If it works, I attached my 20w belly bump pic...not that big, you are fine...image

  • I didn't really start showing until a few weeks after 20. And I, too, unfortunately have the ugly B shaped belly instead of a nice round one. If it makes you feel any better, though, people keep commenting on how small my belly is at 6 months.

Like pp all said, try not to worry. We all carry/show differently. As long as there is a healthy kickin' baby inside, that's all that matters : )

  • Im going through this same thing.  I thought at almost 19 weeks I would have real progress.  The pic in my siggy is from the middle of the night bc that's the only time I look pregnant.  The rest of the time I look like I have a gut and that's it.  Im with you, I really thought it would have happened by now!

I do have a long torso, do you?

  • I'm right there with you!!! I'll be 20 weeks on Friday, and I feel like most of my "belly" is just fat (I was heavy to begin with). It is frustrating, but I know the baby is fine and that soon I will be big and uncomfortable. Just know you are not alone. Hang in there! :)
