A co-worker overheard me on the phone with the HR rep and asked why I was asking about infertility coverage. I explained that we were having difficulty conceiving and that our insurance has no IF coverage and it is costing us tons of money out of pocket.
She said, "But you have your DD."
I stared at her for a moment and then said, "Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
She said, "Yes, I have 5."
I said, "Could you imagine being an only child after your parents pass away? Or not having all of your nieces and nephews? Or growing up sharing secrets with your sisters?" etc
She looked guilty and then said, "I know what you mean and I understand now. I couldn't imagine life without my brothers and sisters."
Yeah. I bet she never makes THAT comment to someone again.
