RP- EVERYONE Please HELP!!!

I am sorry if this will get annoying for some of you. So many people just pop on for a minute or 2 and could see this. I will probably repost this a couple of times today.

My Great Uncle has been missing for 2 days. I thought this would be a good way to get the word out. We have a missing persons report filed in Ohio. The highway patrol has a BOLO alert out all the way from Ohio to Florida.

The problem is that he may be confused. He is a 78 year old white man. About 5'10'' 180 lbs. Driving a White 2004 Ford Ranger. He has been showing some signs of confusion. He lives in Florida but was visiting relatives in Ohio. He left Ohio sunday morning 10/5 and was making a stop in Chatanooga, Tn. to visit my cousin (Around Hwy 153). He should have been at my cousins by 5pm on 10/5. No one has seen or heard from him in 2 days. IF he would have continued on to Florida, he would have been home by yesterday evening.

He cannot read or write. Unfortunately has trouble using a phone. He has been making this trip from Florida to Ohio and back for 13 years with no problems.

I have been on the phone with Hospitals, Hotels and even Crackle Barrels. My Uncle thought he was supposed to meet my cousin at a Crackle Barrel. Someone I spoke to took some information and told me he would watch his local news just in case there is an elderly man in his area lost and confused.

So, that's why I had the idea to post here. I know there are nesties all over the place. Quite honestly, He could have taken a wrong exit and be lost somewhere in Texas. If he's out west, the BOLO alert would be useless.

Could you please keep an eye out on your local news? Maybe C&P this to your local boards? The most recent picture I have of him is in my siggie.

I wish I could give my number out, but I know this will attract some freaks. So, my email address is aandgande@hotmail.com if anyone knows, sees or hears anything.

TIA!

Alicia

  • I hope you find him.  If you haven't already, you might contact the the national center for missing and exploited children (I know he is not a child, but the process is similar if he could be disoriented.)  or the National Center for Missing Adults.  They have a lot of good suggestions for helping with searches.
  • I'm in MI and I'll listen to the news, watch it today.  I've always got the radio on and there has been nothing about an eldery man found or anything.  It is possible he went the wrong way on I75 and ended up here.
  • Hopeful- Anything is possible. All he knows is 75.

He does not know how to use a credit card so he only had $500 cash on him. My worry is that he ran out of gas around Tennessee/Georgia or that he has now run out of gas and money since it has been 2 days!

For anyone that thinks he couldn't be in your area, he could have got off on an exit of another highway and be anywhere at this point. Seriously. When he finally makes it home, they will probably take his keys which is sad. He loves taking drives and does well here. Maybe they will let us put a tracking device on his car for now. I hate to make him homebound. KWIM?

    This is so frustrating!!

Thanks for all of the support.

  • oh man - SO sorry to hear that. I'll keep my eyes open.
  • Hope you all find him soon!! I am sure this is quite stressful for everyone...
  • just wanted to add too- he may not be all that far off. A few years ago my DH's grandmother was missing for the whole day and it turned out that she was in a parking lot of a nearby mall confused about where she was or how to get home. The police found her.
