Every year at Christmas I buy a bulb that flowers (of course I am blanking on the name right now). The big double flower blooms. Usually I throw them out after they bloom, but this year I didn't. The stem is dried. Can I cut it down to the root and save it until next year?
Re: gardeners, a question about bulbs
Most likely an amorillas.
Yes you can cut the stem off and save the bulb. Most bulbs like to be planted in the fall but if its in a pot, you can just leave it and water it. Give it some plant food and it should come back. You will want to keep it pinched off until October/November if you want it to bloom at Christmas.
Yes, amaryllis. I knew that until I needed to type it.
Thanks Buckin. You don't sound bossy right now. But maybe you can boss me around later?
