My name is Stefanie (and no that's not my last name or my husband's in my screenname) and I'm an Army wife of almost a year and a half. DH is a helicopter pilot, or will be officially after he finishes his last week of flight school this month after being delayed with an eye injury that has totally cramped our moving plans. We'd originally been scheduled to move the end of April but the injury pushed it back to end of May. But such is the Army. So we'll be leaving the great humid Alabama to head to Ft. Lewis in Washington. I've lived in a few places in Alabama my whole life so I'm really looking forward to it. Also it's my first PCS, although DH has been in for about 15 years so he's pretty experienced.
We're also expecting our first child in August. Being pregnant and trying to do a DITY move across country isn't exactly what I had planned, but fortunately it's going ok so far in the planning stage. We also have a Golden Retriever and a Abyssinian cat.
Other than those basics, I'm pretty excited to be meeting some other Army wives with kids. Since Ft. Rucker is mainly a training post, there's not a lot of wives I've gotten to meet. So anyway, it's great to finally have a board for ourselves!!
Re: So I figure I'll jump on the bandwagon...
welcome:)
i grew up in the ft lewis area so if you have any questions...fire away:)
Hi there! I've never ever posted on this board (I didn't know it existed until yesterday) but I had to post here, we have quite a few similarities...
I am new to the area (Fort Lewis), this was my first PCS with DH (he's had a couple), we did a DITY move while I was pregnant, this is our first baby, I had never lived outside California before I came here, and I also have a Golden Retriever! I just had to kind of giggle.
Welcome and I hope your move goes smoothly!!!
That is pretty funny actually! We finally got an official clear from his docs and got a graduation date so we should be heading up on May 28th, although it's probably gonna take about 5 days to get there, which is crazy to me.
There seem to be at least a few of us Ft. Lewis chicks so maybe we can all have a get together soon.
I would LOVE to have a get together with the other people in the area. So far I haven't really met anyone around here.
I hope your move goes as smooth as possible!!
Thanks!! We'll definitely have to put something together!
Absolutely! I'll be here for the next 2-5 years at least!! I've been here since March but being pregnant it's hard to "go out and meet people". Other Army Wives and mommies have kept me sane!
