NBR-I got ripped off didn't I??

So my husband and I are going to a black tie event this weekend.  I'm still not at a weight I am happy with, but I also don't fit into any of my dresses I have now.  So, I bought a simple, long black dress on ebay for $60.  It was a STEAL.  I took it in to get hemmed and brought in a tiny bit in the torso.

She charged me 80 DOLLARS.  I think this is outrageous!!  I know it's partly my fault for not asking what the cost was going to be but DD was acting up and DS was screaming as I went to pay. Plus, she made me pay before she did the alterations....in cash.  IDK, I feel like it was kind of shady.  Shouldn't I pay after I inspect the dress?  Again, I know it's partly my fault but I was so embarrassed I just wanted to get the EFF out of the store.  I didn't really have a chance to process everything until I got home.

I got duped didn't I?

  • So, you took the dress in for alterations, were given a quote MORE than the cost of the dress, and paid it even though you thought it was unreasonable?

I'd call and see if they started.  If they didn't, maybe you can get your dress and money back.

I think you know the answer to that question.
  • Um, yes. I would have just said I changed my mind after I heard the total.
  • Did they have to re-build the dress?! If they haven't started yet call them back and get your dress back! If you already paid for it...well...I would be wearing that dress everyday till I got my monies worth out of it. :-P
