Is it hard for anybody else to put your children to bed when it is still light out at bedtime? I think 8 is a reasonable bedtime for a 5 year old, but she seems to think that it is crazy to go to bed when it's still light out.
I put DD to bed around 8:30 and lately it's been closer to 8:45 since it's so light out. We have kind of adjusted our dinner time, so bedtime has moved back. There is just no way that she would go down earlier. I will say that during the winter she goes to bed at 8:30.
I just pushed bedtime back to 8:30 for my 3 y/o. I draw the blinds and curtains and it's dark 'enough' in there that she'll go to sleep.

Yes, its been hard. DS has a 7:30 bedtime and I need to get some blackout curtains for his room or something. He has to get up at 6:30 am, we can't push his bedtime back or else he'll be a grouch all day.

She was in bed at 8. She just laid there talking to herself, reading, playing and yelling to us every 30 seconds until I finally gave up and went to bed too.
DD's earliest bedtime ever has been 8:30. Well, once she stayed up late on a Fri night, didn't nap on Sat, and fell asleep for the night at 7pm, but that was only once.
She's currently going to bed around 10pm now. She gets up at 7am and naps for 2 hrs at daycare. I'd like to change that to be closer to 9pm. It's hard for us to do any earlier because nap time at daycare is 1-3pm. She's already started talking about how she can still play because the sun is up. ;-) I'm hoping we can get into the routine of bedtime at 9 before it starts getting darker later than that. Can your DD tell time? I'm thinking of trying to incorporate different bedtime activities at certain times and having DD help me tell the time for each step. That way it will be sort of a game.

DD was up until 10:30 last night.

DD says that we're silly for having her go to bed when it's light out, but she doesn't fight it.
She has blackout shades and doesn't nap, so she's pretty tired when bedtime comes.
And she's not in bed until between 8 and 8:30, so it's pretty dark already at that point.
