Did you help pick your ring out or did your DH suprise you?
DH and I have been married for almost 3yrs and he wants to get me a ring. So I am curious what everyone else has done.
If you want to post a pic of your ring, please do!
Are you happy with what you have?
Silly questions I know...
Re: Questions about your Engagement ring..
My ring is not the ring DH proposed with. I wanted something with a more "flush" setting intstead of poking out so much. So when we got the new one I went and picked it out.
I'd post a picture, but I don't have one at work. I'm SUPER happy with my ring.
I kind of told him what I wanted in terms of the cut of the diamond, but he suprised me with the exact ring.
If I as home I would post a pic of my ring. I dropped hints of the ring that I liked and told him my style
The center has a diamond and there are diamonds around on the band of the e ring. And it's platinum
I love my ring and am very happy with it. You can strat researching on line to get ideas of your taste ; )
I showed him stuff I liked then he designed something he liked from my ideas.
DH chose my ring by himself. It looks like this:
I love it!
He surprised me. It was his grandmother's ring, so neither of us picked it out. It's not what I would have picked probably, because I would have had a different idea set in my mind, but I am so glad I didn't pick one out because this ring is beautiful and I love it.
In your situation, I would probably show your DH some examples of what you like and then let him pick based on those. If he has good taste generally. It was really fun to have it be a suprise.
he knew what I liked - we had looked several months prior - but the actual ring was a surprise.
I love my e-ring. I actually love it more on it's own than with my wedding band. Sometimes I switch it to my Right hand, just because it looks prettier alone!
Mine was a surprise, and it's perfect.
I picked it out from a family friend's jewelry store. DH picked the diamond -- I freaked when I saw how expensive they were, more expensive than my car at that time was! Years later I was finally ready to be told what it all cost.
Mine was a Scott Kay, and it still feels like a classic enough design that I won't get tired of it. But we'll see.
I love a lot of the designs here, for finding your style and getting ideas: https://www.eerobbins.com/
My DH picked it out all on his own and did a great job! It's a princess cut stone on a plain platinum band. I sometimes wish the band had inlaid diamonds but I don't dwell on it LOL
I'm super happy with what I have!
My wedding band is an eternity band. On our 5th anniversary I'm getting a second band to go on top. I can't wait!
Oh jeez, sorry the pic is so huge, I took it with my phone just now and copied and pasted it in.
DH surprised me with it. We had never really spoke about what I had wanted, only that I didn't want yellow gold. My ring is the three diamonds for past/present/future and they are all the same size. The ring is so pretty and has beautiufl detail and is unique which I LOVED. I loved that it didn't look like everyone else's plain 1 carot round cut diamond that I was seeing. He got it at Milanj.
I loved being surprised by this ring. It showed how much he really knew me and what I would like.
I picked out the ring.
This is it :0)
My ring is similar to this but it's white and yellow gold - my band is 4 small diamonds that match up to the 3 diamonds in the e ring. I think I showed DH pictures of rings I liked - or maybe I showed him pictures of rings I hated - but then my parents ended up giving him a diamond that's been in our family so he basically designed my ring with the jeweler - the diamond in the center of the ring is the one from my family and he said it felt weird having that diamond technically not be from him so that's when he added the other two. I LOVE my ring and still get compliments all the time - even when it needs to be cleaned in a serious way.
That being said, our engagement was a surprise and I had no idea my parents had given him the diamond or that he was having a ring made...he asked my dad if he could marry me and everything and I had no clue!
have fun with it!!
We went ring shopping together as he knew I was very picky about this sort of thing. We found a set that we both loved, and the manager told us it was white gold, so white gold price. No problem, we could afford it and paid cash.
Then I took the ring to be sized and that's when we got our big surprise - the set is platinum.
That was a very lovely surprise - platinum was very much out of our budget!
Did you help pick your ring out or did your DH suprise you? I picked out my ring entirely on my own. DH had nothing to do with it, nor did he want to. He wanted to make sure I loved my ring if he was spending a chunk of change on it.
DH and I have been married for almost 3yrs and he wants to get me a ring. So I am curious what everyone else has done. Nope. I've heard of people "upgrading", but it's NMS.
Are you happy with what you have? Yep! I love my ring as much now as I did the day DH gave it to me!
Beautiful!
I went with DH to look at rings and told him which ones I liked... and he ordered / picked up without me knowing till he proposed.
I have a 1 carat round diamond engagement ring that looks like this:

Baby #2 MC June 2008
Baby #3 Born April 2009
Baby #4 due date February 2015
H proposed with a CZ band, with the disclaimer that he wanted me to pick my own ring b/c he didn't know jack about jewelry. Turns out, he also didn't know jack about how much it cost. . .
I ended up taking some diamonds that belonged to my grandparents and having them set in a setting I designed. I like it OK but the center stone is too small. I ordered a larger, cushion-cut CZ to replace it with.
