Non-Gulf Beach Recommendations

With the oil spill we are looking into other beaches that are within driving distance of Huntsville. We have only gone to the gulf.

Any recommendations for family friendly beaches?

  • Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach are great family-friendly beaches.

  • I adore Isle of Palms, SC.  The beaches are really nice, plus you're only a few minutes away from Charleston!
  • Other than the Gulf beaches and Ocean City, Maryland (think this is probably too far to consider, lol), I have been to Myrtle Beach and enjoyed it.  They have a ton of little shops, restaurants, and things to do like the aquarium, touristy museums, etc.  We stayed in North Myrtle Beach since it was *much* quieter.  We could enjoy the beach without being trampled over by a million other people and then just drive downtown for all the big things to do.  Have fun!

Tybee Island is also worth looking into. It's a cute little community and is a stone's throw from Savannah.

We went here when we were in Savannah last year. Very nice place just not quiet what I am looking for with the girls.
