Smash Cake Question

I promise I won't blow the board up with posts. This is the last one..promise! ;)

I'm debating on whether or not to have Abby her own cake or just let her have a cupcake (since that's what we will be serving for everyone else). I want it to be special, but I don't want her to have a ton of sugar either. I made a big deal out of Nate's smash cake and most of it ended up being wasted. WWYD?

Re: Smash Cake Question

  • I think a cupcake is fine, especially if it's what you're serving everyone else!

  • We did cupcakes for everyone, but I made the "giant" cupcake as her smashcake.  It turned out great and really fit the theme.  I think either way would be fine!

  • I heard the grocery stores will give you a free smash cake. I am not sure if this is with a larger cake purchase or if you are signed up with their baby club. I have not followed up, but I will need to soon. If you go this route let me know. :)

  • FYI - Publix threw in a free smash cake for me when I ordered a 1st birthday cake for Avery.

    I agree.

    Rachel, your profile picture is so cute!

  • Ours came free from Publix when we ordered her cake, so it wasn't a "huge" deal if it got wasted.

    Thanks! :o)

    Thanks for the replies. I think I'll just stick with a cupcake and see if I can come up with something a little different to make her's special.

    (We don't have a Publix here :o()

    If you do decide to do a smashcake, you might check out the bakery at Southern Family Market or maybe even Walmart. We got a "mini" cake from publix for K's smashcake photos and it was only $7. Not too bad.
