I am going to be a SAHM and plan to exclusively bf. I plan to pump some milk so I can give the baby a few bottles a week to get used to bottles and to have some stored in case I need to be away during feedings. Do you think I need the expensive Modela pump or could I get away with a $100 double-electric and be happy with that? TIA!
Re: pump question
I have the Medela PISA, and I have to say, it is worth it's weight in gold. I used a Medela hospital grade when I was, well, in the hospital, and the PISA is just as strong. I exclusively pump, so I couldn't make do without it.
I would suggest renting a pump after LO is born and see how it goes. GL!
I have the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra and it works great for me. It was a bit on the pricey side ($275), but it came with a bunch of accessories (tote, cooler & 6 bottles, 3 sets of flanges, car adapter). The appeal of the Ameda is the fact that it's a closed system, so no worries about mold/moisture in the tubes like the Medela pumps.
Ameda offers a less expensive version (Purely Yours) for $159 and is basically the same just without all the extras.
The Lansinoh double electric is the same as the Ameda Purely Yours, so you save money and the pump is purple instead of green. If you aren't going to pump alot, then I would save some money and go with the Lansinoh.
