I wasn't going to register for one, but DH wants to so here I am trying to figure out which one to get!
He likes the look of this one but it gets bad reviews. Anyone have a similarly neutral colored one that you have had good experience with?
I'm really talking about how well it works, whether it crapped out on you after 2 months' use, etc. I know every baby responds to swings differenly.
Thank you!
Re: Rec your swing, please
We really liked this one. DS loves it - especially the nature sounds on it. I wanted it because I wasn't sure if he'd like the swing or the bouncer, but I figured for sure he'd like one of them. Plus, it was one less thing to take up space. Ended up he loved both. The only complaint is that the bouncer is only good up to 18lbs and we're there. So we pulled out the high chair to use instead (I put him in the bouncer in the kitchen all the time).
The bouncer was awesome in the beginning. He'd sit in that sucker and either look around or sleep and I'd just carry it from one room to the other. We use the swing for naps - turn that sucker on, play the nature sound and he's out.
We have this one too. G used it all the time, he loved it! I babysit now and she uses it CONSTANTLY. So it's gotten 15 months of nearly daily use and is still going strong. My only wish is that it plugged into the wall instead of just ran on batteries. Because we use it so much I change the batteries about once a month. But that's my only real complaint.
We have the girlie girl version of that one and Samantha slept in it every night for 4 months. It does take up a bit of space, but even now she likes it. She watches the stars and the mobile for a good 20-30 minutes.
ETA: Besides being girlie, one main difference and the reason I went with the girlie vs the lamb, was being able to plug it in, instead of just using batteries.
We have the Graco Silhouette and our friends/neighbors have it as well. Neither have broken and both get lots of use. Their DD practically lived in it the first 6 months (she's 8 months now) and ours gets a lot of use as well.
I like our Graco Sweetpeace. It plugs into the wall so no need to worry with the batteries giving out and having to change them. It plays nature sounds, fast and slow music, heartbeats and you can plug in your mp3/ipod, etc. If you have a Graco car seat, you can pop out the Sweetpeace seat and pop in the carseat. Very handy if baby is asleep. Also since the seat pops out and has a vibrating feature, you can use the seat other places in the house and not just in the swing. It's definitely not the smallest swing out there so if you are looking for something really compact, I would not recommend.
We have this one as well. Princessmah hit all the nifty high points of it.
Fisher Price Oceans Wonder or Rainforest. LOVE IT! The biggest perk is that fact it plugs in. These are the only swings we've found that do so you aren't wasting batteries. We've used it multiple times a day pretty much since DS was born and he's over 4 months old.

Plus it swings back and forth and side to side.
BFP with no treatment!
This is what we have and it was a God send! We originally had the Sweetpeace, but it had a short in the motor so we returned it.

My son HATED the Sweetpeace!
My mom had bought a regular swing at a garage sale and he loved it at her house, so I went out and bought the regular Graco swing (then sold the Sweetpeace on Craig's list), I can't find it online but they are basically all the same, just different colors/patterns. Mason loved it and slept in it for hours and used it for months and months! We burned through so many batteries with that thing! We had no problems with it, the only reason we stopped using it was when Mason was old enough to stick his hand out and stop the swing!
I HIGHLY recommend find a swing that plugs in or else you might need to buy stock in batteries! We tried rechargeable batteries but they made the swing slow down and we burned through them in a few hours, instead of a few weeks like the regular batteries.
