Less Expensive Items for Registry

There have been several posts lately relating to having less expensive items on your registry.  My showers are a ways away, but I want to make sure that I include many options at lower price points.  I don't want guests to feel like there is nothing in their price range.

Please tell me your favorite less expensive items for a baby registry.  Thanks so much!

Wash cloths, burp cloths, towels, shampoo/ lotions, carseat toys, bottles, pacis, teething toys...

All of those are probably under $15.

  • I'm having the same issue. I wasn't going to register for any of the "little stuff" like lotion, ointment, bath wash, wipes, pacifiers, bottles, nipples, washcloths, etc. thinking that I would just start picking that kind of stuff up myself along the way. I decided to just register for every little thing I thought we might need, and that way, people can pick up an array of smaller items that fit their budget and make up a nice gift.

  • bathtub

    humidifier/dehumidifier

    towels and washcloths

    onesies, socks, mittens, hats

    thermometer

    safety products

    sheets

    stroller accessories (mommy hook :-)

    books/dvd's

    bottle drying rack, bottle brush

    thermal bag

    feeding accessories

I could keep going...just peruse through the store and you will find plenty!

  • The pacifier holder with clip. All my friends with kids told me that was the must have item. Also the freezable teething toys, another item I was advised I would need.
  • The bundle me wraps, DS always slept in one until he was 5 1/2 months old.  I'm getting more for the twins.

  • All of the above listed items are great. And remember, if you have a lot left on your registry and need to buy it at the end, I think most stores give you a discount when you complete your registry (10% usually).

I think that pretty much sums it up. I would add

    socks

mittens/hats (depending on time of year)

plain onesies that come in packs of 3-4

    diaper wipes

breast pads and cream (might not be your style but you'll need them if you want to BF so why not?)

  • Nightlights and batteries!

  • First aid supplys
Medicine cups (not sure what they are actually called)
    Forks, Spoons, Bowls
    Small toys
    Bath supplies (soap, shampoo, etc)

I would take the stuff people can buy in gift baskets and just break it down to single items. That way if they want to get you all bath supplies they can get the gift basket one or if they just wanna get you wash cloths and soap they have that option too.

  • Thanks so much for all of the ideas!  I have some of these items already, but now I have a lot more to add.

  • I'm not a mom yet, but my sister swears by those rear-view mirrors for your car, like this one:

Toys that hook onto the stroller/carseat would also be good "small" items for your registry

My fave was the gerber cloth diapers. They are great burb clothes.

  • I just registered for everything I thought I would need in the babies' first few months. Even down to the laundry detergent. I figure if I end up with 30 packs of washcloths I can always return some :)
  • I had no trouble with the "little" things. I just could not bring my-self to register for the $200 stroller and things like that. I left that to my family to get me.
