DH and I have a trip planned to the beach for our anniversary in June. Since the oil spill, things are up in the air.
We're working on planning a backup trip, just in case things get too bad for the beach. Right now, we're looking at Atlanta. We did the aquarium and World of Coke in November, so I'm trying to come up with other things to do while we are there. Any ideas?
If you have suggestions on somewhere else to visit, I'm open to that as well. We're trying to keep the driving to 3 hours or less since I'll be 31 weeks.
Re: NBR: Weekend getaway
How far would Chattanooga be for you? Would it fall under the 3 hour requirement? I love Chattanooga, lots to do and see. We went there last year when I was 26 weeks pregnant.
We are considering Atlanta for my birthday weekend in June. Of course we'll have a baby in tow so our activities have to revolve around her, but we are wanting to go to Stone Mountain and a Braves game, and the aquarium and World of Coke. Doesn't Atlanta have a zoo as well? Maybe hit up some good restaurants. I know when we went on our babymoon last year I was all about some good restaurants
The Atlanta Botanic Gardens are awesome and almost always have some kind out of outdoor art exhibit as well.
You could see if there are any shows at Chastain Park you want to go to -- they are always great concerts and you can take your own picnic/cooler: https://www.classicchastain.com/events/
There are also shows at The Fox and the amphitheater south of downtown. You might check the events at Piedmont Park as well.
I also love Memphis and Nashville and they aren't too far from you.
It's just over 3 hours, but I think I could handle that. As much as I would love to go to Savannah or back to New Orleans, I don't think I could handle the 5+ hour car ride well.
