1st Time Moms - Lamaze Anyone?

Just curious how many 1st time Mom's are going to take a lamaze (sp) class?  I think it might be something fun my hubby and I could do together.  Some people say take one and some say it doesn't matter.

  •  i probably will take it

  • I plan on doing child birthing and breastfeeding as well.  I also want to send DH to the daddy boot camp class just to give him a jump start as well.  He is very novice with babies.
  • We are going to ask doc about it at our first visit.  We are both interested, and my FIL is a doc (internal medicine) and thinks it would be a good idea.  I don't think it is necessary, but I am doing a lot of fun pg things that aren't necessary :-)  We want to enjoy every minute!
  • hehe daddy boot camp.  That's awesome.  I just need to get mine a book to read so he understands the emotional roller coaster I'm going through.  Stick out tongue

I'm planning on taking those classes as well.  I'm so scared to be alone with the baby I may not ever let my mother leave after the baby comes.  ;)

All the hospitals in my area offer some version of daddy boot camp.  Its on a sat and most are taught by dad's who bring in their own children.  It seems well worth the one day if I can get him to go.  Weekends in the summer are tough for him because he plays music and is out of town a lot in the summer, so it may have to wait until we get much closer to DDday.

I am sure there will definitely come a point where you will want your mother to leave you alone.  My cousin-in-law is in the same position right now with both moms and they're really starting to drive her nuts.  She had premie twins and they won't leave her house!  I am strong believer that you won't be able to do it on your own until you have done it on your own.  You'll be fine!!!

  • My doc and my aunt recommended taking it, so I most likely will.

My hospital also offers lots of other classes that I probably won't take, but one that I will take my 13 year old niece to is a babysitting class for teenagers. She is SO excited about the baby and I know she's going to be a big help!

  • Im taking a child birthing and breastfeeding class cause I really have no idea what to do even though I have a lot of support and people that tell me what I need to do but I also think it would be a great way to meet other moms.  Daddy bootcamp that is funny there is no way my DH would go but he did take the book the Dr gave us and will not let me read it till he is done and that is good enough for me.
