My brothers and I loved our wagon when we were little! We'd pull each other, fill it with rocks and sticks for transport, pull toys in it (dolls, books, etc.), took it in the woods, etc. We'd also tie it to the back of each other's bikes and ride in it But that may have been a little dangerous.
My kids LOVE their wagon! James got it when he was 18 months. He loves that the seats go up or down. He'll put one up and sit in it and put one down and use it as a table or foot rest. He likes to get in and out of it by himself. Now he loves pulling Kaylee around in it (with supervision of course) and Kaylee loves riding in it. If she sees it in the garage she screams "THAT!! GO!!!" and points.
We have this one. DH had wagon envy at the zoo though - he saw one with a cooler/bag attachment on the back and another one with a canopy.....
Nick LOVES his wagon! So much more than the stroller. He loves to look around and have more range of motion. To the point where we had to move where it was stored in the garage because he's see it on the way to the car and start crying because he wasn't going for a walk.
I can see uses for it for a while...like holding costume props on Haloween (or daddy's beer cooler ), and there are places for two kiddos to sit which will be nice later too.
One big one that we can put him in and one little one that he can put his toys in to pull around. Hopefully he likes them!
I think he'll really like it. I attached a ribbon to one of his ride on/push toys and pull him around the house on it. He just laughs and laughs and doesn't want me to stop.
It has a spot that lifts up on the bottom to put cold beverages in, but I guess it's been discontinued? I don't know - it's awesome though. I highly recommend it.

Paige loves her RF wagon (we got it for her for her birthday)!
We take her for walks in it - I think she likes the freedom of not being strapped down. Not that she moves around or anything, I think she just likes it.
Thanks! I mean, it's my parents' money but I thought if they weren't all that useful, I'd suggest a different gift. Nope, we'll take the wagon! I can definitely see the upside, too, when more babies enter the picture.

This is the wagon that my MIL has for the grandkids. DD LOVES it! She always wants to go for walks and this is a great way for the kids to get to sit together.

Re: possibly dumb Q about wagons
IDK, but MIL told us she was getting us a wagon for Mads for Christmas and this is what we got...

Jackson loves his. He liked to pull his friends around in it, the dogs, his toys, whatever.
We have a RF wagon - this one:

Andrew is in love with his. We pull in him the neighborhood, we've gone to the grocery with it (easier to carry heavier groceries), wherever.
Purpose? They are fun for kids. Like swinging - just something different. Plus they can ride with a pal.
Take last nigth we walked w/ A in the wagon to El Rodeo, got takeout, and we didn't even have to carry the takeout home b/c we put it in in the wagon.
We have the Step 2 and it's awesome. Radio Flyer also makes a nice plastic one at Costco with an umbrella top for shade.
Ha! Too funny

The dads in my parents' neighborhood use one to pull the beer cooler around on Halloween when they take the kids out trick-or-treating!
If you have a neighborhood pool, that's what my friend takes her 3 kids in when they go.
