I just can't stand how they ask you for the date of your LMP and then base the due date off of that. With DD, we were charting, so I knew exactly when I had ovulated and based the due date off of that. Their due date was off by quite a bit because I don't have the "normal" 28 day cycle with 14 day luteal phase.
I asked if they would look at my chart and base it off of that, but they refused. They ended up doing an ultrasound and, lo and behold, came up with the exact due date that I had given them.
This time, I decided to just fake it and told them the LMP that would get me my exact due date. Now, I'm feeling slightly guilty about it...

Re: Is it bad that I lied about LMP?

They wouldn't even look at your chart? kind of archaic....
I'm not sure I could have lied about the LMP, but I would/will fight for my version of the EDD. Look at it this way, lots of women don't even know their LMP and you'll have an u/s anyway. if it's way off, they can change it and you can fess up if you have to.
Not if you are certain and there is more than 4 days difference.
I wish I'd lied. I thought my midwife would be a little more active in believing me, because my ovulation date was 11 days 'late' making LMP dating 11 days off.
In the end, she believed me, but still wrote down both dates and had the LMP date written down first. It's exceptionally annoying, precisely because it is so off and can create so many potential issue, especially since she's legally required to transfer care at 42 weeks. She said writing down both edd's would cover us and it's clearly noted that my conception date confirmed by charting is 11 days off lmp dating, but I'm still annoyed. Especially because her asst. still bases her comments on my progress by lmp and I am constantly correcting her.

My OB's nurse insists I'm 6 days ahead of where I really am. As much as I try to tell her that not everyone ovulates on Day 14, this idiot won't listen. She's the same idiot who told me not to worry about ovulating on the pill. And, here I am.
I guess when my u/s shows me measuring at least a week behind, all hell will break loose.
My OB believes me, but this nurse who in charge of starting my file won't listen.
It's pretty annoying.
I accidently hit 1st tri board then I saw your kid and wanted to say cute!
As far as your lmp, if you know the day you concieved thats what really matters. They will be able to tell that with an ultrasound more accurately. You didnt do anything wrong. All measurements go by when the baby was conceived, not your lmp.
The only time I EVER got my period 2 days late was the month we conceived. I was thinking about fudging the LMP, but they couldn't see anything on the first u/s anyway and so they ended up calculating my EDD based on the size of the baby in my second u/s. I did consider it only because I didn't think they'd get the whole 2 days late thing even if I explained, but then I figured what does 2 days matter anyway.
You're positive about when you ovulated? I mean what if your egg was viable for a few days, and it was fertilized later than you thought (since sperm live a while)...

Ummmm, because not everyone has 1st tri ultrasounds or dating ultrasounds? I don't.
Because my midwife is legally bound by things written in my chart, like the edd that says when she has to transfer?
Because doctors who rely on pregnancy wheels for dating when there is ample evidence via charting are going to call for tests at the wrong point and needlessly freak out/freak you out and possibly label you high-risk or threatened miscarriage because they are too archaic to listen to an accurately noted conception date?

Eggs are only viable for 12-24 hours period. At the most, charting will give you a 2 day window, because it might be possible to release more than 1 egg, and therefore have a potentially viable egg around for 48 hours. But that's a big stretch.

I don't think it is bad. With my dd my dates were a week off from my LMP and my doc insisted on keeping the LMP due date even after the ultrasound showed her measureing a week behind. I was worried about being induced too early etc.. Luckily she came on her own a little early.
I had planned to lie about my dates with this one but they weren't that different than my LMP dates.
FWIW,a couple of days really can matter. With DD, my edd per dr was 12/28. per my calculations 12/31. I was induced at 42 weeks. I am convinced that I would have had her at 42w2d - which would have been 41w6d by my due date and I would not have had to be induced....just sayin'...
My brain hurts from all this mathy math...
FWIW, mine BFP cycle was super boring and my EDD matches what I'd predicted from charting...but I can understand why it would be incredibly frustrating to have someone want to go by LMP if you know that that date isn't accurate.?
