Pregnant after a Loss

anyone have bad eczema?? need suggestions.

i am suffering terribly from my eczema and i can't use the cream the dermatologist gave me since i'm pg.  i think i'll call them on mon. to see if theres anything they can prescribe or recommend but thought i'd ask my girls if they found anything helpful to use.

i can't go out in the sun b/c it flares up my eczema so bad, literally my arms and hands are covered in spots and speckles of severely itchy eczema.  i'm going crazy!!!!

  • Our pedi recommends an over the counter lotion called Cera Ve (I'm not 100% on the spelling). We buy it at Wal-Mart. The bottle doesn't say anything about eczema, but it's helped my DS a ton without us having to use Rx lotions. Hopefully it will help you!

::knocks on wood:: I haven't had a flare up for quite some time but what actually helps is this lactic acid lotion (AmLactin) I was prescribed from my derm and OB said was safe. You can get it over the counter at Wal-Mart you just have to ask for it. It does sting if you have a rash or cut. Not sure if it would help you or not, I basically have seriously dry skin (ichthiosis) all over my body and so far I don't have dry skin.

  • I had horrible eczema when I was younger. It runs in the family and my dad has it sooooo bad. Luckily, I grew out of it by the age of 12. But the Aveeno creams and baths always did wonders for me. I think it's pretty natural stuff, so it should be safe to use.

  • I had a terrible, huge patch of eczema on my neck for the first 5 months of this pregnancy. I was prescribed Lyderm (safe during pregnancy) by my dermatologist, and it cleared it up COMPLETELY within TWO DAYS. I've battled the worst eczema for ever, and this is the only thing that has worked (steroid resistant after going through the full spectrum before)

I just looked this up online b/c I was hoping to mention it to my dernatologist!  It says it is a corticosteroid, which is generally not recommended during pregnancy.
