Travelling to USA with LO without SO?

I am planning on going to Vancouver in a couple weeks to visit my mom without DH (he is working) and my mom and I are planning on taking a day trip to Washington State to go shopping.  Has anyone taken LO across the border by vehicle without SO?  Do I have to have DH sign something to show at the Border indicating that he is aware that we are going and giving his consent?

    You need something notarized from him. There should be information on the customs/immigration website.

    Hey -

    My sister is a Canadian customs officer. All you need is a letter signed by him saying it's ok to take LO across. Doesn't have to be anything fancy as long as it's signed. I keep a little note in my passport for whenever I do this (I live an hour from the border.)
