double stroller recs

im sure there are hundreds of posts on this subject, but nothing comes up in the search!?!

DS will be 3.5 when #2 arrives.  He doesn't sit in stroller much now, but i think i'm going to need one more with 2 LOs.  So i was thinking the City Mini Double, but we spent a week at Disney and my DH saw the P&T and the fact that after #1 doesn't want to ride anymore we can convert it to single, so i know there are a few others out there that do that, but it's all so confusing! all the configurations and when can infant ride in the rumble seat? the reviews on P&Ts are so mixed also, the others seem so new there aren't many reviews. Anyone else got this all figured out???

we live in urban area, but still drive a lot, so i need one that fits in my hatchback too!

TIA!

  • I am totally getting the Baby Jogger City Mini double.  I like the idea of having two seats available.  It is compact, has great sun shades, fits through standard doors and has an easy one hand fold.

The BJ City Select is way out of my price range and I have heard some negative reviews that the bottom seat is too low to the ground and it is small.

  • We got the Phil and Ted's Sport with double kit.  I love it!!!  We got this one because DS is at that in between phase where sometimes we need a stroller and sometimes we don't.  We looked at traditional doubles, and the sit and stands, the kontours options etc.  We looked at them all.  The Phil and Ted's is great for all terrain, which we go for a lot of outdoor walks to the zoo etc. so I love that, it glides like butter and you can push it with your pinky finger and it turns on a dime.  The deciding factor though was exactly that once DS#1 doesn't want to ride, or if he doesn't want to ride that trip you just have an awesome single stroller, no cumbersome extra seat or extra length etc.  We've had it for about 2 months now and are just using it as a single until little one #2 arrives, and we both think it's the greatest stroller ever.  It take's some learning curve time to learn how to open and collapse it easily, but once you've got it, it's easy.  The big downside is that you need two hands to open and close it, but once it's in use that part doesn't matter to me, everything else about it is great!

  • Oh and another thing!  My son loves the new stroller, he was kinda over his old stroller but he gets excited about riding in this one!  I guess it's just much more comfy and a way smoother ride!
