Preemies

Anxiety of girls getting sick

Before I had my twin girls I was a bit a germaphob, but since having them its gotten way over the top.  My girls are 13 months old.  They are 34 week and 5 days preemies.  Its like the NICU scared me so much about them getting sick.  I seriously can't even enjoy myself when we get together with friends or relatives because I am so worried.  Does anyone else  feel this same way? I don't know what to do maybe I need to get a hold of my anxiety.

I know what you mean, I'm thinking about seeing a psychologist! We have taken hand washing and sanitizing to the extreme.  I have developed a horrible case of dermatitis on my hands from washing them over and over again.

We go through about two rolls of paper towels a day and we didn't take Liam out until about three weeks ago for the first time and he is 8 months old.  The only place he had gone before then was the ped.  Of course he got sick the moment we started taking him out!  It was just a cold but now I am scared again to take him out.  We don't let anyone touch him unless we've asked them if they are sick, around anyone who is sick and then they must remove their shoes before coming in the house and they must wash their hands.  I feel like Liam is being raised in a bubble which is probably worse than just exposing him to germs.  I have a lot of anxiety about him getting sick.  I don't know what to say to help you because I have a bad case of anxiety myself.
