It seems like each day my pants get a little tighter. I have some shirts/pants in a size bigger than my regular size so that has been helping. I am wondering how much longer I can make it! I will probably go shopping for a few items so when that day comes and nothing fits I at least have a few maternity items I can start to wear!
Just out of curiosity when did everybody else start to wear maternity clothes? This is also my first pregnancy. : )
Re: When did you start wearing maternity clothes?
13-14 weeks. But I also wore regular jeans with a be band.
Now my PP pants dont fit so it mat. pants capris and shorts.
when I wore mat pants tho I used a be band to keep them up bc they slid down my belly.
I'm still wearing a lot of my normal pants with a bella band, but now have very few non-maternity tops that I can fit into. I have a few pairs of maternity pants but they were all too big until around 23 weeks.
I buy my pants to fit and have worn the same size for about 10 years, so I don't own "skinny jeans" or "fat jeans" I just have "they fit me jeans." My pants were starting to annoy me around 12 or so weeks, and my mother decided to go shopping and bought me a pair of dress maternity pants and a pair of jeans and told me to just wear them and stop complaining.
I've been wearing them since about 14 weeks, and I started to get pregnant looking around 16-17 weeks, so there was no way I was going to be able to go back. JCPenny's had a sale around that time, and I bought several more things for $20. Though the clothing from Motherhood is much cuter and a bit "younger" looking. I just feel weird going in there sometimes.
when I went for my 16 week appointment, I was down by close to 15lbs. I still looked like I gained that much in my belly and boobs. I went from a C cup to a DD and no way I was going to be able to get on normal pants. It made me feel kind of fat.
With my first pregnancy, I started wearing looser shirts around 16 weeks, but I wasn't in maternity clothes until 19-20 weeks.
Second pregnancy - totally different. My belly got big so fast. I put on maternity pants around 6-8 weeks.
I had a 2nd trimester M/C two years ago. I didn't need to wear maternity clothing at 16-18 weeks when it happened. I looked like I gained a couple lbs, but nothing really visible. This time at that point, I had strangers asking me about being pregnant. It just feels weird.
I guess I'm a little crazy, but I still haven't bought much of anything in the way of real maternity clothes. I had a TON of long/loose/empire tops pre-pg, and they've been working fine as maternity tops since about 20 weeks or so.
Pants-wise I still fit into my old jeans with a bella band, but its getting really uncomfortable so its probably time to suck it up and buy some real maternity pants. I work from home so most of the time I can just get away with sweat pants, so I haven't been that motivated to go spend a bunch of money on stuff I'm only going to be wearing a few more months.
Does it make me weird to say that I'm kind of nervous when the sales lady with the fake belly comes over and asks if you need any help? It might also have to do with the one lady trying to help me find "cute clothing that would look nice for school." I know I can look young, but I'm nearing 30 and I'm shy in public and it just makes me feel weird all around. At JCPennys with their middle aged clothing and the sales people who never talk to you, I feel less weird.
I don't have to wear maternity clothes at all. They are way more comfortable, but since I wam bigger anyway, all my clothes flow away from my torso. My pants all still fit because I lost weight to get pregnant and so far I have continued to lose.
I am hoping by 20 weeks I can/will make the switch.
about this exact time frame.
Married 8.13.2005, M/C 12/8/06- 5 weeks, M/C 2/27/07- 7 weeks, M/C w/ D&C 8/10/09-6.5 weeks *Charles Lawrence born 5/2/08 @ 3:14am, 7lb 8oz, 20.5 inches. Clomid, Crinone and baby aspirin. *Alexandra Claire born 9/14/10 @ 9:52am 6lb 14oz, 20.5 inches. Femara, Crinone and baby aspirin.
I wore my regular pants with no problem (no band, no nothing) until 23 weeks. Then between 23 and 25 weeks wore did the elastic band trick. Started to wear regular maternity clothes at 25.5 weeks.
Maternity tops are varied... I still wear a lot of my regular tops (like cardigans, etc) now at 30 weeks. Camis and t-shirts under need to be either long regular or maternity.
with my first pregnancy, about 17 weeks.
This time...geez I could have put them on a week after testing, but I waited until about 10 weeks. They are just so much more comfortable than the elastic trick or a bella band.
