My DS just went through a growth spurt for the past 3-4 days & he was eating every 2ish hours. Now he's back to every 3-4 hrs (at night he goes 5-7 hours).
do you offer the second breast at each feeding? Sometimes my LO acts finished but he needs to burp & then he'll take the second one (not always).
How long has your LO been eating this frequently? If this is something he/she just started it could be a growth spurt.
my DS just turned 4months today and he has been eating every 2 hours since one month. Normally 10minutes on one side. My lactation consultant said that it is normal and he just has a small tummy and likes to eat frequently.
Probably every 2 when nursing, he gets more like 3 hours from a bottle of breast milk. I think he gets bored before he gets totally full from the breast.
I do offer the other breast but he doesn't seem interested. He also usually gets upset if he needs to burp and he hasn't been lately.
Maybe I just have to accept that this is normal?
I don't think this is a growth spurt. He just went through one and he was feeding every two hours at night. This has been on going for a few weeks now. Maybe it's a long growth spurt. I remember LO feeding every hour or two the first 4 weeks haha

Good Luck!
Ditto to really all of this. I work so DD has pumped milk during the day, but the bottles are also consistent w/ every 3-4 hours. DS definitely nurses both sides but I also burp him and/or change his diaper in between. GL!

About every 2-3 hours during the day. Unfortunately she rarely goes longer than 3 hours at night either She almost always nurses on both sides at each feeding.

Every 2 hours here too, unless he naps in between. Same at night. If I offer him the other boob, he'll sometimes take it, but he always spits up if he does.

DD is 3.5 months now and eating every 3-4 hours during the day. She will do a 7 hour stretch at night. It takes her about 7-10 min., and she also takes one breast at each feeding.
My LO eats every 2-3 hours. Sometimes he'll eat off both breasts and sometimes only one. He does sleep 7-10 hours at night though, so I don't mind feeding him a bunch during the day.
She eats 6x per day for about the last month or so - usually at 6,9,12,3, 5:30 and 7:30 or thereabouts. This is just the schedule she ended up at, but obviously if she's hungry at different times than that, I feed her!
She eats from both sides, usually takes about 30 minutes to eat, and when I'm at work takes 4oz bottles.
Mine's doing the same thing. I thought it was the growth spurt but it's been going on for weeks, so I'm thinking that it's just his way of bonding with me when I'm home from work. I don't really mind it.
DD has reflux so I have found she prefers to split hers, so she will eat when she wakes up and again 30-60 minutes later (all from one breast, she will sometimes take the other side) and then she eats again when she wakes up from her nap so it's usually 2-3 hours depending on when she eats

I have a 5 month old now, and he is actually still going mostly every 2 hrs, haha. A few months ago I was feeling like it was so often, and wondered when it would space out, but for some reason it doesn't bother me so much anymore. I have found that as he's gotten older he gets less frantic if he isn't fed exactly at the second he decides he's hungry, so while he still likes to eat frequently, he's a little more flexible if we're out and about.
my LO feeds every 2 hours or so and only takes one breast (10-20 minutes), I feel like this is so frequent! I don't time or limit my feedings.
any suggestions? advice? experience to share?
thank you
This is how it was for us. Sometimes she goes longer now, especialy if we are out and about an then faster at home. Just go with the flow and continue to feed whenever, it sure does keep up/increase your milk supply.
Now she is so good at communicating she is hungry without crying, just "talking" (more like screeching) She eats a lot during the day but only once during the night and not during her longer naps.

Just wanted to let you know that it can be normal
thank you! It is reassuring to hear about all these variation and similar experience!
I just want to make sure I am not doing anything wrong
