We've been struggling with names for our LO. We have a 3 yo daughter named Adeline, nn Addie. What do you think of Zoe Kathleen? Zoe because we like it, and Kathleen after both of our sisters. Thanks!
And to PP, just because you name your pet a human name, doesn't automatically take it off the market as a human name.
Hmmm, I think it would be weird for me to name my daughter Zoe since my cat is named Zoey...no? She asked a WDYT question...and I told her what I thought. No harm, no foul.

i agree completely. my hubands name is bailey and people are like its a pets name. i'm like its a human name! you choose to name your dog a human name!

Oh, it would definitely be weird for you to name your child Zoe(y). I just meant that a name doesn't automatically stop being a "people" name just because someone uses it for their pet.

Totally this to PP! And to OP, I like Zoe, but I like it spelled with a y or ie or something on the end to indicate that sound. When I see Zoe I think "Zo". JMO.

And I agree with you. I didn't say that a name is a write off for everyone once it's used as a pet name. Zoe is not my style as a human name simply b/c my cat is named Zoey.

Zoe is the traditional spelling which I think most people know how to pronounce.

My friend is names Zoe, she was annoyed all the time with people pronouncing it wrong all the time - in HS, she stopped trying and was known as Zo. (just a heads up)
It has become more mainstream in the last few years - I have been hearing it a lot, so I assume the majority of people know the correct pronunciation now.
It is NMS, but it is not a bad name. And both your names sound really good together.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I agree, it's nms, but I think the traditional spelling (Zoe) is much better than adding a y or ie.
Thanks for all the feedback, ladies! I Some of you actually answered a few questions that I didn't ask... like if people would mispronounce it. DH likes Zoey, but I like Zoe better, so we're debating about that.
I can understand someone not wanting to use a name after they had/have a pet named that... a lot of people- me included- give pets human names. It would be hard to then use that name for a baby! Not that other people couldn't or shouldn't...

Good luck deciding! DH and I are going with Zoe too, but can't decide on the traditional spelling or Zoey. My due date is in a week, so hopefully we can agree soon!
Re: What do you think of Zoe?
My cat is named Zoey.
It's a cute name, but nms for a person.
Honestly, I'm not a fan of Zoe.
I do think it goes well with Kathleen though.

A friend from high school that I stalk on facebook named her daughter Zoe or maybe she spells it Zoey. It works for her, cute kid too.
I like it but I can't use it cuz she would know I stalk her.

I loooove Zoe! Zoey is good, too, but I'd think most people would be able to pronounce a classic name like Zoe properly.
Sounds good with Kathleen, too! And I love the sound of Zoe Kate.
BFP 11/6/09. Rory Anne Born 6/28/10!
I like the name Zoe.
I also disagree with a pp, the spelling Zoey is awful.
I agree, it's nms, but I think the traditional spelling (Zoe) is much better than adding a y or ie.
I don't like it at all, sorry!

I like it for a golden retriever. Not so much for a kid.
Exactly! Our dog is named Sammy, but I don't mock people for choosing to name their kid Sam. WE are the goofballs who gave a dog a human name.
And I looove Zoe. But I prefer Zoey...
