We had my 39 week appointment this morning and it didn't go very well. I'm still closed up tight like Fort Knox. I have no dialation, effation, or softening. They pretty much all but said pack your bags for a c-section. I knew that a c-section was a distinct possibility because of her size, but this just makes it a double whammy. I'm still going to try to deliver her vaginally, but it seems like the chances of that just keep getting smaller and smaller. My induction Thursday will probably fail and that makes me sad, plus the fact that it means that I'm in the hospital on my first Mother's Day. ![]()
To top it all off, today is DH's 30th Birthday so I had to act all cheery during and after my appointment. I don't want to be a Debbie Downer on his big birthday. We're supposed to go to Superior Grill tonight with a bunch of friends to celebrate, but now I don't even want to go anymore.
Thanks for letting me whine.
Re: Disappointing OB visit {vent}
That is all pretty stinky. Except for your DH b-day
Hope your day starts to get better! Hugs!
Best of luck this week.
Aw bless your heart
I'm sorry it didn't go so well. I can sympathize with you...I never had any progress either...nada zip zilch...like you locked up like Fort Knox. But just know you'll have that baby girl soon and it'll all be worth it
I hope you have a good time tonight celebrating your DH's birthday, and enjoy the next few days together as a couple.
Big Hugs!
Thank you! That gives me hope!
My thoughts exactly!!
Would your OB consider rescheduling the induction for a few days to see if you make any progress on your own? (ie, walk a few miles, bounce on a yoga ball, have have lots of ... ahem.. bedroom activities!)

Thanks for all the support, y'all. It makes me feel like I'm not being quite such a whiny baby!
I really hope things change and that she'll decide to come on her own, but it's doubtful. The same thing happened to my mother with both her pregnancies. She was closed up tight for me, they induced and she had to have a c-section. With my brother they were fine with her doing a V-BAC but the same thing happened again and she wound up with another c-section. Something about our cervix's, they just don't wanna open up!
I'm so sorry! Just hang in there. I know it's tough. I am praying that things work out the way you want them to!
DS was a week over due when we had a failed induction/c-section. And as much as I thought it was going to be, having a c-section was not that bad at all in my case. I had the c/s b/n Thursday night/Friday morning (DS was born at 12:04 am) and we went home Sunday at lunch. Once I got up and started moving, I felt pretty good and wanted to get up long before the nurses would let me.
Can I ask why you're getting induced? Although our "gestation" time is 40 weeks, I think some babies need to cook a little more. As long as your vitals are good, consider rescheduling your induction (unless there is a separate reason for it?)
I went 40 weeks, 2 days and I'd probably still be pg if not for my c-section. I had zero progression for labor but my BP started to raise and my body was trying to go toxic, so I HAD to have A.
My doctor didn't want to induce me at all - he said - based on my cervix and the potential size of Avery he felt like I would 75% likely to end up w/ an emergency section - that I DID NOT want.
My C-section DEVASTATED me - however... it was not that baad... all of the night mare stories that people told me never came true. I had very little pain, I was able to successfully breast feed, etc. I truly believe that my recovery was easy because I only was recovering from surgery and NOT labor and THEN surgery.
It's definitely your decision but make sure you're not making the decision to get induced if your cervix isn't at least softened JUST so you can avoid a section...
Good luck!!
